Hauppauge remote button input...odd question

using a Hauppauge 34 button remote to control Sagetv with Colossus and HDPVR.

here's the problem: when doing text searches in Sagetv main menu / search menu, repeated button presses on numerical keys would cycle through characters for that key. For example, the '2' key would also be able to input 'A', 'B' or 'C' when pressed repeatedly, which is how you spell things in the 'search' field in Sage.

I updated some Phoenix plugins, and maybe did a tweak here or there regarding fanart settings.

Now, only numbers can be entered - repeated key presses don't cycle thru the multiple characters for each key, so if I press the '2' key four times, I now see 2222, not 2ABC.

any thoughts on what may have been changed? it's also possible a keyboard key was inadvertently pressed, but I'm miffed

the pause key on the remote cycles the input method between 3 modes I believe...you likely pressed that at some time while on an input screen.. try going into an input field and press pause...you should also see a header indication change to show you the mode.

wow - didn't know that was there - the problem isn't solved, but I DO seem to be able to "cycle" through three modes: 1) number atop capital letters 2) numbers atop small case letters, and 3) no numbers whatsoever.
It's likely that the remote .ini file got corrupted - I'll replace that next.
However, now that you showed me that 3rd mode with all letters, that will work as well
Thanks!
