Curious online TV idea

Saw this today on CNet:

The idea of being able to pick your own channel lineup is great. But being streaming, I wonder how we be able to "record" stuff.

Seems interesting. You shouldn't need to record stuff as you would just pick a previously aired program from the "cloud" and play it from there. Local storage would not be needed if this is done right. Not sure how $150k would make this project happen though.

The reason I mentioned recording is that they seem to be talking about live streaming.

I think the $150k would be just what they need to build their working system to be able to really sell it. However, I think getting the networks to go along might be more difficult than they think.

But I like that the ala carte discussion is at least happening again.

And here's the true reason ISPs have monthly bandwidth caps.

They did mention "cloud recording" so that's why I brought it up. In the best case you would just be able to go to the guide, and if the program you want to watch didn't get recorded you should just be able to play the stream. Granted, this would need an insane amount of storage to keep everything that airs in an archive of some sort, but it would work if done correctly.

Where did you guys see anything about recording? I read the page carefully and watched the video and as far as I can tell it only mentions Live TV.
