Just Curious--what's up w/ the betas?

I'm not complaining, but traditionally it isn't a month between beta releases...is there a final 7.1 (or 7.2?) release due soon?

Or were the betas released mainly to support the colossus cards, w/ the real release due sometime in the future?

I agree with you rwc. They seemed to have stopped at the moment. You think they would release another beta or make 7.15 final as it's pretty rock solid for me now.

Based on some of the Q&A I read in the Studio forum with the plugin developers, I'm thinking the next beta is going to have some additional features. I'd expect a longer cycle when you're not just fixing things. I sent in a few change requests and/or fixes which I hope get thrown in, too. Because of that, I'm quite anxious... but patient.

They're probably still working out some of the kinks with the Colossus.

I'm hoping they fix the HD audio issues with the HD300 extender...

I know they're working on a new DShowCapture.dll in order to help fix the issues with DVB BDA devices, and hopefully my BGT3595.

The email I got 10 days ago said 3-4 weeks.

If you're having issues like that, please submit a bug report on them because we currently don't have any issues logged related to that which I'm aware of.

And there will be another beta soon....we already did a 7.1.6 build, but due to the amount of changes in the capture subsystem we put it into private testing first...and they had issues with it, which we're fixing...once that is all resolved it'll go back into public beta again.

I submitted the bug about a week ago and provided the file I was having an issue with.

can you post the url for bug reports please. The HD200 hasn't had an update since last September, and I have noticed increased sluggishness since V7 was released: especially since the last 7.1.5 beta
thanks

Sounds like they are busy. If they haven't figured out the issue they might not contact you until they do. Or your fix will be in the next beta. I've filed many bug requests over the years and they either contact me, or I check the change log and my issue is fixed in it. Just because you don't get contacted doesn't mean they aren't working on your issue.

I'm sure they are working on it. The previous post stated that Narflex wasn't aware of any bugs reported and I just wanted to let him know that I did submit an official bug report and provided the file to them.

I hope they get the timeline issues with playback of R5000 recordings on extenders fixed. They play fine on servers and clients, but not on the extenders. Demo conversed with Petermn22 and me about it in an HD300 firmware thread so I know they are aware of the issue, I just hope they finally get it nailed down.

I upgraded to the betas about a week and a half ago just to see if this problem was fixed, and it hasn't.

I talked to SageTV support again, and they said they don't have any updates/info about it at all. He said he would mention it to the developers again.

I checked my e-mail history of this problem with SageTV, and we've been e-mailing back and forth about it for almost 2 years now (first e-mail was sent in June 2009).

I'm beginning to doubt if this will ever be fixed.

Disappointing to think it won't be fixed.

I've tried the HD-PVR and the R5000 just kills it in overall reliability. I hate the fact that the R5000 is not officially supported, but the HD-PVR is. To me the R5000 is such a better solution. This is the only issue I have with it and it seems like if the client software works then the extenders should be able to work too.

I hope Jeff sees it here since he has already replied in this thread. Maybe he will take an interest. I love Sage, but this one thing drives me a little nutty.

Agreed. Since the last R5000 software release improved reliability quite a bit, the only problem I have with the R5000 is occasional corrupted playback in SageTV.

Correction: I can't use sleep mode (S3) with R5000 either (so I guess that makes 2 problems).

.....crickets chirp.......

Wow this beta is dragging out! And the silence is deafening!

I've been busy and decided against jumping on this round, but now there are a pile of updates to plugins piling up that require this beta or later.

Whats up Sage? Maybe a quick update for your peeps?

========== EDIT ==============
Whoops... I didn't see Narflex's post above. That's what I get for doing a drive-by posting while in a hurry!
