Looking for a NTSC tuner card

One of my NTSC tuner cards died, yes I still use them

Recommendations on what to replace it with? If I could get a dual NTSC tuner that would be great. I was looking at the HVR-2250 anyone using that today?

Other suggestions?

thanks,
dave

I think there are a ton of us using that card, I'm very satisfied with mine.

I think the internal splitter has too much loss, but if your signal is good it works well

+1 on the HVR-2250. I am using one in combination with a Ceton and it works flawlessly.

Any issues running this on XP? I've not touched my Sage server in years and don't really want to upgrade it to Win7 if I don't have too.

I ran two of them on XP before I upgraded to 7. Still using both of them (with a HDHomeRun PRIME) without any issues.

just wondering...would there be a PQ improvement by replacing my 150 or 500 with a 2250?

SD TV PQ took a hit when I replaced a 36" Toshiba tube tv with a Samsung 52" LCD in early 2009. Wondering if a newer NTSC tuner card might help. Currently, its definitely watchable and watch every night but I remember when I hooked up the Samsung LCD TV thinking "wow, not as good a picture as the decades old technology its replacing".

AFAIK the analog half of the HVR2250 is very comparable to the PVR150. The PQ improvement comes from using the 2250 as a digital tuner.

The HVR2250 also enjoys full support in 64-bit windows and in systems with more than 4GB of RAM, so it is more future-proof. The PVR150 will work in Win7-64 bit, but only if you have less than 4GB of ram installed (I don't think the PVR 250 and 350 work at all in 64 bit windows).

I got the card, installed the drivers, rebooted, and it works! As there is only a single TV input I could not hook both my Antenna and cable up but that is OK.

Also happened to get a hdHomeRun as well and that installed seamlessly as well so I'm good!

thanks,
dave

It's a dual tuner so the one hookup is fine because the tuner will get two streams from it. No worries.
