HDhomerun and unencrypted cable

Hi all

I've got 2 HD PVRs and 1 HDHR with 2 tuners.

I moved, and I'm trying to get the HDHR to work again.

I got this going once before, but I just can't seem to get the steps right this time.
I am looking to get the HDHR to pick up the few network channels that my cableco sends over the wire unencrypted.

Between scanning for channels on the hdhr software, enabling the ones i want, etc, etc, I can't get things to work properly in sage.

I'm especially confused about which options to pick when adding the new source in sage -- antenna/broadcast or cable, which channel lineup to pick (shouldn't it not matter since the HDHR is providing the channel list thru a file handed to sage?), etc.

Any step-by-step for HDHR on a cableco wire?

thanks!

cable, not broadcast.

pick the digital lineup when offered by sage for your area.

I'm not sure you still have to do it or not but did you run the silicon dust utility on your server? It finds the tuners on the network and makes sure they're being recognized; updates their firmware; and asks for what DVR software you're using.

After that, I ran the sageTV scan, found the channels, selected the locals from the list I wanted the HDHR to tune (deselected all the others that I wanted tuned by my NTSC tuners with the non-digital EPG lineup option)

seems like there was a remapping procedure I had to do to convert physical channel to logical channel or vice versa...just can't remember. I did however, get all of the help I needed from this forum. Its on here somewhere. If you still need help, post back and I'll see if I can find the thread where I posted questions and several very helpful SageTVers kindly responded.

I just set this up the other day:

1) Set the SD utility for SageTV
2) Use the SD utility to scan for channels
3) Correct the lineup with the Zap2It channel names if needed. (I had several that were not correct)
4) Start SageTV and add new sources
5) Pick the tuner, choose cable and choose not to add any guide data.
6) Run a channel scan. This seems to have taken what info SD put into the SCN file and created the mappings in the FRQ file.

Overall, it was pretty painless.

Yeah, thanks, I think i got it..

Weird thing, i had it working for a bit, but later on, the channels somehow changed and all my network channels were recording public access...
I re-scanned and it was working again, I guess i'll wait and see...

thanks!
