Sux to be the networks. I will always expend extra effort to, in some form, eliminate the ability of content providers to force commercials down my optic nerve.

Try living here in Ohio (swing state) in an election year. Every commercial break is 75% political, and almost all of them presidential. I hate watching sports on delay (not real-time) but I almost had to do it during NFL games yesterday because of all the political ads.

I love watching NFL games on delay. Wait about 2 to 2-1/2 hours and then start watching. Blast through all the pregame blather, the 30 second skip is almost perfect for the time between the ball is downed and the start of the next play (unless someone is in a no huddle offense). Blast through the boring half-time crap and by the time the game ends you are usually watching live.

on this!

I actually set my fwd skip to 10 seconds.. and skip based on the rythm of the game. Eg, 10-20 secs for a hurry-up, no-huddle, Peyton Manning style offense, 30-40 secs for most typical offenses...

It is amazing how they can take ~30 minutes of action and stretch it out to 3 hours...

You do know that you can have TWO different skip lengths at the same time? I use 10 sec and 150 sec skips. The 150 is perfect for skipping commercials when commercial skip doesn't work correctly. And the 10 sec skip works both for fine tuning the commercial skip and for when I watch basketball.

Yep, I know that. I've got the a 30 seconds skip and 10 second rewind (for "fine tuning") and the second set are 3 minute skip and 3 minute rewind.

+1. But I have to admit that if the game is really close with 2 minutes to go I don't skip because somehow all of the delays adds to the excitement

I've tried to adjust the skip length but for some reason both buttons are 10 sec forward or reverse regardless of what I set them for...is there a setting I have wrong elsewhere?

You are setting those in setup/detailed setup/customize/Fast Forward & Rewind Times/Configure right?

Now second question, are you using the SageTV remote, or an alternate? You either have to use the SageTV remote which has the Skip FW/Skip BK Skip FW2/Skip BK2 buttons, or a programmable remote that you have set up with both sets of buttons.

This one feature is probably the main reason I still use my SageTV remote 99% of the time when using SageTV.
I've got a Logitech that I use for everything else, but still feel more comfortable using the SageTV remote for SageTV. The button layout just seems more natural in the hand using the SageTv remote over my Logitech 700.

I have my settings for these buttons set at -10/+30 for the basic set and -3:00/+3:00 for set #2. I have been using that setting since the time I got my first SageTV HD100 extender. It has always worked for me.

Unfortunately since I was forced to upgrade to newer hauppage pci-e tuner cards due to a lightning strike I have never been able to get my sage remote to work with the pci-e ir input at the local machine so the only way I have left to watch with a remote is with an MVP...

Add an IR receiver to your Sage system and use any universal remote you want sending MCE codes. Two skips forward and two skips backwards will be there by default.
