You're right Stanger 89, I was able to purchase a 5 port gigabit switch and cat 6E wiring for my 3 computers for about $42.00 from newegg. I checked to see if the netgear gamerlounge router had a 4 port switch or if it was a hub, but I couldn't find anythin that was specific so I ordered the gigabit 5 port switch. Thanks for the help!

That is one of the great things about this community. You can always depend on someone with more experience to help you through the tough times. Thanks Again to everyone that helped!

I would avoid using static IP's if you could. DHCP definitely helps smooth things along. You can still have devices tired to a specific IP, but this is best done in the DHCP server on the router. Most routers have a relatively simple method of assigning the IPs. Once a device is connected, you can view it in the connected devices list, and usually assign a Static IP from there. Next time that MAC address connects, the DHCP server will assign it the proper IP.

Thanks for the tip on programming the static ip address in the router by mac code. I enabled large frame buffer and am getting higher speed on lan test.

Hubs are very useful if you want to "snoop" on a server or port's traffic.

Remembers when the activity and collision lights on my 10M hub would light up during downloads on my win3.10 machine....

Or you can get a low cost layer 3 switch like one of the Netgear ProSafe Smart switches.
