I need to push the remote buttons twice for each command.

Every time I want to use the remote to change the volume or select something, I have to push the remote twice for it to work. I know that the extender can see the remote codes because the blue light flashes when I push a button. I just have to push the buttons twice to do anything.

Windows 7, hd300 extender, default UI,

Any ideas?

Have you tried fresh batteries?

You most likely need to learn the remote signals again from within sage and make sure that for each command you learn the signal twice back-to-back.

The media center remotes actually broadcast two different signals on consecutive presses (of each button) and both must be learned into sagetv in order for it to function on every press!

I this problem with a HD200 and after all the other answers a hard reset worked. Once back up the remote work just fine with single key press.

Thanks for the suggestions, but the hard reset didn't work and I have fresh batteries. I even tried a remote that I have for my HD200. Same thing.

Not sure about learning the remote signals again. I am using the original remotes.

I tried the HD200 and that works fine.

I messed around with the mouse repeat rate but that is for the mouse. I didn't change it that much and I think I put it back where it was.

As has already been said, it's most likely that you need to learn a second code for each button. To check just go into the config screen (can't recall what it's called exactly) and press the button to see what command it's linked to. Then press the button again and see if it sends a different code and if so you can then see if the second code is linked to the command or not. I have a HD200 and was using the original remote that came with it and it out of the blue started exhibiting the same behavior and I had to relearn the second command.

OK I found the location to check the codes and when I push a button on the remote it displays one number and when I push it again it displays a different code. On my HD200 it displays the same code both times. I tried linking a code to each command but it didn't correct the problem. I still have two different commands. There has to be a simpler way of fixing this. Where is the file with the defaults? Can I just replace this file with a backup?

I solved my problem. The file that I had to replace with a backup is in the clients folder. I have two extenders and found the right file by making a change to the remote links as mentioned above. I then checked to see what files were updated at the time I made the change. That's how I found the file in the clients folder. From now on I am going to make backups of this file on a regular basis.

Thanks for the help guys.

So presumably the file that you are talking about (the .properties file for that extender) got corrupted somehow. I wonder if you could have just deleted that .properties file and let the HD200 recreate a brand new one?

I was thinking about that too. I will give it a try (after I back it up that is).
