firmware for supporting wireless networking on HD200

Hi,

I need to move my HD200 away from using land line and into wireless. I have the latest firmware update however it does not appear to support wireless network.

Do I need to revert back to a prior beta? Any help would be great.

Regards,
FM

Which USB wifi adapter are you using? I think the extenders are picky about which adapter you use.

It is a cisco usb wifi with the correct format but of course it is "untested" by SageTV. I am fine with going out and getting the tested one(s) but I want to make sure I can at least get the option working first. Do I need to have the correct USB wifi adaptor connected before I even see the wireless configuration option? If that is the case then I think I know the problem.

Thanks,
Tim

You can get a Genuine SageTV USB WiFi adapter on eBay.

Thanks. I will no doubt get that wifi USB to be safe.

It would be nice if someone could confirm for me if I need to have a specific firmware installed or whether the HD will "see" the usb/wifi then provide the configuration option at that point. I have the latest firmware for the HD200. I hope I am making sense.

I bought one. I just switched my HD200 to wireless and setup a few parameters for wireless and it just worked. The firmware on my HD200 is 20100909 0. Note I'm not currently using it as I got it to have for a future move and with the Google buy out I wanted an official version before they are completely gone. If needed I could probably plug it back in this weekend and give you ALL of the network settings.

DLink DAP-1522 access point. About 10 feet through a wall with power turned down to half on the AP.

Thanks for your response. I purchase a Ubiquiti N router with an unveliable range! I also purchased a new ENCORE ENUWI-N Wireless-N USB adapter (which is the same as teh SageTV one I was told) but could connect! Only see about one bar when other adapters I tried on my laptop get almost 100% It does connect to a G router (Linksys with DD-WRT) with no issues! I am going nuts!

Sorry not sure what to tell you. I've always used wired connections until I got a laptop. I got the access point for the laptop to connect since I could get a faster connection over wireless than the wired connection on the laptop. Wireless-N and only 100Mb wired so I got the DLINK access point. When I bought the SageTV wireless adapter on eBay I just connected it to my HD200 turned off the mac address filtering on the AP entered the correct settings on the HD200 and started using it. As I said it is about 10 feet from the AP but does have a wall (with drywall) between. Worked fine for me. I did have to reset it on a lockup once but otherwise it just worked. I am not currently using it because I have yet to move the bedroom and can still use the wired connection that already existed. I have this wireless device as a backup.

Maybe someone else has an idea but I'm afraid I'm out of ideas for you.

I will say it almost sounds like the cell phones my sister and her husband have. Sitting next to each other on a couch one has four bars the other only 1. Next time I see them the phones have reversed and the one with 4 bars now has 1 and the one that had 1 bar now has 3. Weird!

I have an original Sage adapter and flashed and updated and could never get the adapter to connect (N) when using any of the wep protocols. It was a very agravating experience. It did work with A/B/G but not N and also not 128bit encription protocols.

outside of my adapter being bad, I don't think it actually supports N or 128 wep despite what's in print.
