Kill-A-Watt readings for Sage server

The Kill-a-Watt tells me that my Sage server, with its 350 watt PS, costs me around $18.50 per month to operate, at a rate of .24 per killowatt hour.

Would enabling standby mode greatly reduce this amount?

The rated size of your psu doesn't matter unless it isn't big enough to handle the load. What is the power draw at peak usage and at idle?

do you have any recommendations on settings you would use? at the moment, in W7 I have "high performance" currently set. Cool & Quiet is set to "auto" in bios.
If I set W7 to power-save mode, I believe that an upcoming recording will trigger the system to wake-up? Does this also go for requests from HD200 extender, or third-party extender requests?

Use your Kill-A-Watt to measure it.

Also is your rate really $0.24/kW? That is pretty high. In my area Northern VA I currently am paying $0.12/kW and have seen it as high as $0.15/kW which is on the very high side for this area. Most places in this area are usually less than $0.10/kW.

yeah - welcome to SDG&E - Orange County / San Diego. Anything over the limits goes for .24 - bordering on criminal in my view lol
so, I measure at the upper limit, since I can't change how the dishwasher uses energy

PS - I stand corrected: our monthly bill just arrived... the HIGHEST killowatt price for SDG&E southern California is .31 per!!!!!

I have friends in "socialist" Ontario that pay half that as their highest charge.
Bring on Socialism!

SDG&E - bringing you the finest, monopolistic, un-regulated, most expensive electricity in America! (just my .02 per killowatt hour)

Yeah not too long ago Virginia de-regulated the Power companies in the "name of competition" stating that power companies can compete for business and are suppose to allow one another to "share lines" however the hell that is suppose to happen. Recently I compared my rates with a friend who lives less than half a mile away who is with a different company. His rate is 40% less than mine. So I decided to see if that company services my house since apparently I am free to choose since the power companies are not a monopoly. What a load of crap that is, no house in VA is able to get power from more than one company and they are in fact a monopoly. Makes me wonder why then VA lawmakers would agree to de-regulate them? Oh yeah that is right lobbyist paid for that!

OK, first, the only Windows 7 Machine, is a gaming machine, so I'm not sure how/what to set in Windows 7. In XP, it was very easy. Set C&Q in BIOS, then go to power settings and select "Minimal Power Management". My CPU runs at 800MHz 99% of the time, lowering the CPU usage. If I run anything CPU intensive, it jumps to 2.6GHz.

Search the web, there should be easy to follow instructions somewhere.
