Sage Hangs Sometimes Cannot KILL process

I recently had an old problem come up again. This is where the SAGE resident application (Bottom Right of Screen in XP) becomes non-responsive.

When Sage is operating properly you can place your cursor over the icon and it will tell you what Sage is doing eg. 'Recording XYZ show on Channel 2'

When you click on the icon it opens Sage on the PC.

When the program becomes unresponsive, I cannot open the application or kill the process.

Moving a cursor over the Icon gives this message 'SageTV 2'
As if 2 seperate processes are running. However CNTL-ALT-Delete only shows a single Sage Process which cannot be killed.

The only way to recover is to shut the PC down. I was using 6.5.14 Beta but I just upgraded to 6.5.15 to see if this helps out.

Typically Sage will become unrespnsive sometime at night when I have forgotten to active STKeepAlive. This results in a no signal output from the DISH VIP612 which then propogates through my HD-PVR to SAGE.

Should I file this as a bug? IE Sage should never become non-respnsive but in the rare occasion it does then you should be able to kill the process.

Anyone with thoughts on this?

I noticed this problem after I "upgraded" to Java 6u13 (due to the 6u12 debacle). What version of Java are you two running? It only happens once in a blue moon, but I get the same issue, that Sage becomes unresponsive. The nice thing is that it still continues to record so at least I don't lose any shows it is currently recording (so I wait until after the show is over to reboot). I keep thinking I should try to downgrade to 6u11 to see if that fixes my problems, but I admit it is a bit of laziness.

For me it seems to be independent of the Java version, as it has happened under flavors of 1.5 and 1.6. Most likely a native library issue.

i haven't had this exact problem, but my sage will exit unexpectedly maybe 1 out of every 5 times on resizes. for instance, if im in full screen mode and go to windowed mode, or if i maximize from icon. sometimes if i try to go to windowed mode from full screen the screen will go black then refresh right back to full mode except that the top-right resize icon in sage will show like it's IN windowed mode. so it thinks it's in windowed mode but it's not.
and in the 6.5.15 beta now sometimes trying to go from full to windowed just gives me a black screen. can't get task manager up from cntl-alt-del menu or anything. just a cursor. have to reboot.
i'm running on 1920x1080@60 w/jvm u13, vista x64.
