Process Lockups with Latest SAGE Versions and Vista

I'm currently running the Latest Beta released Yesterday on a newly installed vista system. I've seen the same problem on the stable release of Sage as well as prior vista installs. My Tuner is a Dvico FusionHDTV5 USB with the latest Drivers. When watching live TV in sage it will freeze the video - I can hit stop and it will kick out the program guide. This same problem would happen in XP on rarer occasions but in XP I was able to reselect my program and start watching again - slight pain but since it was rare I handled it. In vista it shows the progress bar when trying to restart the video but never does anything regardless of how long I sit. I can kill the sage TV process which closes the GUI but the process itself stays running occupying CPU and 100+ MB of memory - If I unplug the USB Tuner the memory and CPU usage stops but I am still unable to stop the process - the only fix is a reboot. This is quite a pain - any input would be appreciated.

Sage doesn't yet officially support Vista or the Java 6 runtime environment required to run Sage on Vista. One of the joys of being an early adopter of new technologies like Vista is that you get to help find all the glitches. It will take 3 to 6 months before Vista starts living up to the hype. The same thing happened with the transition to XP 5 years ago. I was there and remember it well.

For your immediate problem, I recommend trying the eval version of BeyondTV, which now claims full Vista compatibility and should help you isolate your problem. If BTV works, the problem is SageTV and you should submit a bug report. If it doesn't work, the problem is probably elsewhere.

I've been running Sage in Vista since Beta2 with no problems until the release of Version 6 . . . . granted there were changes on the vista and java side as well . . . but I wouldn't consider this early adoption any more either since it's now sold on every system out there - it was early adoption when I was using it 3 months ago . . . .
