Channel remapping basics?

I just got a HDTV so I'm finally able to use the 2 HDHomerun tuners I bought several years ago for OTA reception. But it seems I need to do channel remapping in order to use them. I've read various posts on it from searching the forums but they all assume a level of knowledge I don't possess. Such as what is channel remapping? What is it for and why do I need it? Thanks.

What do they mean and what do I do with them? Thanks.
For a start, see the remapping info in the SageTV PDF manual -- pages 171-172 and 174-175.

Is your basic issue one of not being able to tune a channel or are you not getting correct EPG info for the channels being tuned? Among other things, remapping can be done to fix the physical channel number so the channel can be tuned and/or the station can be remapped so the listings for the channel are correct.

As I said I don't know anything about channel remapping. I don't know if I even need it. I have 2 HDHomeruns to view OTA shows. After I installed the HDHomerun software I then started Sage and went into the Setup Video Sources" screen and chose one of the HDHomerun tuners. After going through the Cable/Satellite/OTA screens I get to the Channel Scan screen. After I perform the channel scan I get a list of channels I can receive. I then choose Done with Channel Scan.

Is that all I need to do? For example the show "Chuck" comes on channel 10 in standard def in my area. Will Sage automatically know that channel 10 in std def is now channel [25.1.1] in high def and set the HDHomerun tuner to channel [25.1.1] instead of channel 10? Also will Sage know that when a show is available in both std def and high def I prefer that the high def version be recorded?
