Blu-ray iso files in SageTV 7

I can't get sageTV to recognize my blu-ray iso files. The SageTV manual says to install Virtual Clonedrive and configure. I have installed Virtual Clonedrive, but not sure how to "configure." I have my blu-ray iso file sitting in a directory.

What are the steps to "configure" so SageTV will recognize and play my blu-ray iso file?

Thanks

The only way that I know how to play blu-rays are to rip the main movie. SageTV does not read/mount ISOs natural you will need to do some additional step to get them mounted.

Here is a thread talking about the same thing you are: Link

I know I can do it

I had it working for about a year - I prepare blu-ray shows using a program called Proshow Gold. I had to reinstall my operating system and all my programs and can not get SageTV to play the shows. I tried to remember how I set it up initially, but it doesn't work now. I am sure I am doing something wrong.
I am hoping someone can list the steps required to run blu-ray iso files using SageTV v7

I'm interested in what you find here - mine finds the BD ISOs and they show up in the Video/Titles section, but when I select them to play, it just does nothing. DVD VIDEO_TS entries, however, work fine.

I googled this ProShow Gold and had a look at it - if it works nicely with BD material and sage (and its extenders) -- I would buy it. From what I can see it's an authoring software for "slideshows"? Were you using it in a novel way -- and if so, how?

I'm rapidly reconsidering my BDISOs and re-ripping my library to something like an MKV, but then I lose menu support (does anyone know how I would ensure that the DTS-MA or whatever the highest-definition audio is retained? this is normally done via the BD-J menus), the only other handy thing about menu support is for season/episodic BD sets, for example, TV series released on BD.

It seems to me that BD ISO's were listed SOMEWHERE (can't recall or check where now obviously as the store was where all the bullet points as far as features were) as natively supported. I thought STV did support them natively, or was I misunderstanding and it is just the HD300's in stand-alone mode across the network?

I remember reading in the forums that basically [STV or extender, again not sure anymore] would look at the BD image and just pick the longest (time-wise) playlist and play back the associated media-files, provided they were not protected. I chased my tail on the BD iso playback issue and gave up and used the External Player plugin for BDs thru PDVD, until I got the chance to revisit this to get extender playback working. I'm verging on a wipe-and-reinstall on the STV server, since I think I've fiddled with at least one too many codecs, settings, etc., thus backing myself into the corner of a bloated install with fragments of this n' that lying about.

ProShow Gold is a great "slide" show program - easy to use. I create shows from my backpacking trips with slides and video clips embedded, and annotated by voice overlays explaining what is going on. I am off on a Sierras hike tomorrow.

So if I understand correctly, you're creating HD content and either outputting BD ISOs directly from ProShow Gold or burning it to Blu-Ray discs and ripping them.

It's this content you want to play in Sage. Do I have this right?

I don't have any suggestions, but want to be sure your objectives are clear in the thread, as I suspect most of us are interested in (and therefore imagined) a different scenario involving ripping content from commercial BDs.

Yes, you have it right. With Proshow Gold you can burn DVD or Blu-ray disks, create iso files so that you can watch it on your computer or TV (via SageTV - except I can't get it to work). You can also upload the show to Youtube (but the size limitation of Youtube is a problem), or you can upload (free) to Proshow's server and send an URL link to your friends ( PC only, Apple not supported) to view your show in HD quality.

Yep by far.

As for Virtual Clone Drive working, you have to install it with the user that is running sage for it to work. Not an issue if you are not running sage as a service, but if you are make sure VCD was installed by the user that the sage service uses.

I read something along those lines someplace. Just to be clear, in SageTVServiceControl, I would need to change the "Run As User" from the default (LocalSystem IIRC) to the normal user that last ran the Virtual CloneDrive Installer?

I was having a similar problem with SageTV not detecting any ISO files. It turns out the problem was resolved on my system (Windows XP) by installing a UDF 2.5 driver, by following these instructions:

Hope that helps!
