SageTV can't read its own files

I'm bringing SageTV up on a new computer which is running Win XP Pro. Everything seems to be working, except it can't read the files it writes. The files are good in that they can be read from the network with the HD200 and from computers running PlaceShifter. The error I get is:

Sage.Playback exception: ERROR (-3.0x80040154)
There was a problem accessing he file system for Playback

Strange since it didn't have any problem accessing it for recording. Anyone know what might be wrong?

What format is the file? Maybe you need a codec?

That error usually means SageTV can't access the files due to a permission problem or isn't able to access the network shares due to running as a service under the LocalSystem account. If you are running SageTV as a service and need SageTV to access network shares that aren't local, then you need to configure the service to run as a user account instead of the default LocalSystem account otherwise SageTV can't access the network shares. The network shares should also be defined as UNC pathnames in SageTV and not as mapped network drives. The user account you run SageTV as should have full access the network shares. To test, log in to the desktop as the user account you assign to SageTV Service and then use Windows Explorer to browse to the network shares. If Windows Explorer prompts you for a username and password to access the shares, then you probably need the same username and password setup in an account on the remote machine(s) that have network shares that you want SageTV to be able to access.

It could be as simple as rebooting either the device where it's happening or the whole system. That solves that error message for me.

I rebooted everything as you suggested and all is well now. Thanks!
