I guess I was still on Sage 4, so I will need to purchase the sage 6 upgrade key and the sage 5 placeshifter key, which will work in sage 6 place shifting. I'm finally upgrading from my lowly Pentum III 733 to an AMD 3200, should be a big difference.

Which custom stv import is recommended for reading showanalyzer files? (I see it is recommended to try default, but I need the comskip!)

I would setup SA to generate .edl files and use either the .edl comskip import or the latest SageMC (shameless plug), which has comskip support built in. The .edl format is supposed to be more accurate in sage because it uses the actual time to mark the commercials. The .txt files use the frame count, which seems to have some accuracy problems.

Aloha,
Mike

For me, the comskip playback that's part of "A Collection of Minor Tweaks for the Default STV" works best. He's fixed some bugs in the initial release and created a version that works with v6 of Sage. His latest update is here: http://forums.sagetv.com/forums/show...265#post189265. It uses .edl files (enable MPlayer output in SA).

so with that you don't need to use dirmon to delete the files? So many choices now for imports.....

Yep.

Note that the one in "A Collection of Minor Tweaks for the Default STV" is a modification of the original by a different author in response to people asking for fixes and additional features (like auto deleting of the skip file).

Had to dial 5309 :)

I couldn't get this to work for me at first... It was a fresh install of V6 on a test box. I didn't install all of the tweaks, just the commercial skip (and the jar file).

I finally tried 5309 on the info screen, set the Malore menu options to 'display commercial detection options' and now all is OK. I'm using showanalyzer and dirmon with no changes.

Hope that helps,

Larry

I forgot about 5309. Did it so long ago .
Glad that you got it working.
The tweaks seem to be a pick and choose affair. I've taken the same approach -- just grab the ones that look useful to me.

larryf, if you got it working using the malore options then you are using txt format files and not edl format, which will also explain why the tweak version didn't work (it only supports edl, maybe I'll change it to support both like SageMC)

davidk21770, that's exactly why they are structured the way they are. By only having 1 function per import you can get only the features you want, but not have the baggage of having included things you don't. With flachbar's STVI importer it makes it easy to import multiple imports as 1 import, so being modular is easy.

Not sure if we need Jenny (5309) or not!

You are correct... I was generating both txt and edl files while trying to get this working. Now generating only edl files and it works properly with the stvi from 11/17.

I don't honestly know if 5309 is needed now, but hate to mess with it now that it works!
