New to QAM

I know this has been discussed quite a bit, but I can't seem to understand how to scan for QAM channels in Sage. I can find all of the channels I need with my TV, but sage finds nothing on any of my tuners. I have an avermedia A180, 1600 (that I'm pretty sure supports qam), and a 2250.

What do I need to do to get qam to work?

I've tried scanning under cable, antenna, basic, extended basic. Nothing.

I thought the avermedia was OTA only..... I know there is at least one model that is. I have one but use it for OTA. There was a way around it to utilize it for qam but it was a pita. I'd have to look through my notes if I have them for how I ended up getting it to work with qam if you're interested.

According to avermedia's site this one supports qam. All of my tuners should. I'd really appreciate any help you can give me. I'm starting to figure it out.

Check this out...it looks like you may need to designate it as QAM in the sage server properties file

http://forums.sagetv.com/forums/showthread.php?t=30431

Report back if it works......

I have an A188 and have always had to manually edit the properties file and change the broadcast_standard property to QAM NET to make it work.

Thanks that will help. I'm going through it now. I just wish there was a way to get what I find in AverTV to sage. EG: 107.116 is fox 4.1 listed as 107-2 on silicone dust's site.

So...QAM is working perfectly now. It actually wasn't difficult to set up at all once I figured out what to do (thanks to you guys of course). Silicone Dust's site provided the initial frequency all I had to do was figure out the sub frequency. For example: channel 4-1 is fox. OTA it is something like 39-4-1. QAM fox is 107-2 on the silicon dust site. I put 107-4-1 and now I have fox. Also I found that all of my cards will work with qam, you just have to specify in the .properties file that they are qam tuners. If you have .frq files present before scanning qam delete them. If you are successful with one tuner you can copy the .frq file and rename it with the other tuner names and they now find the same channels. My scan didn't find all of the channels I wanted, but once I figured out how they needed to be entered the rest was easy.

Thanks for your help guys.
