That receiver has R5000 in it, and I found that it has a bit of a heat problem which I was able to solve by using small fans around it. But... I was using HD-PVR to help with the diagnosis.

I have since added two NEW receivers to my system with two HD-PVRs. One is a VIP 222 k, the other a VIP 211 k. I have no sync issues with either of these.

If you are leasing your receivers, you might try trading them for new ones. I am getting 29.97 fps 1080i and Dolby 5.1 audio with no sync problems at all after two or so weeks.

Hi Jeff,

My Dish boxes are pretty new actually. I just got them in March or so. I have the 211k versions like you do.

Hmm I am not exactly sure what is the difference between our two setups.

I should probably put some fans on my STBs anyways, can't hurt

As far as changing anything. To be honest, I am afraid to touch my HDPVRs right now lol. For the first time in about 6 months, I am enjoying my TV. I want to make sure it stays that way. At the very least until the NFL season is over

Thanks for your help with this matter

This solution worked for me. I'm running a very similar setup with Directv tuners and twp F1 Hauppauge HD PVR's.

Simply pressing the buttons for resolution and scrolling through 480 and back to 1080i fixed the audio sync issue.

This sync thing raised its ugly head for me a couple months ago. Never happened before. I'm guessing it had to do with a DirecTV update to the receiver since I had not changed anything on that network encoder PC that I can remember. When it happens I usually reboot the PC, HD-PVR and DirecTV receiver and I'm good for a bit and then it starts happening again. I should have been keeping track of which channels it happens on, because I wouldn't be surprised if its the same ones over and over; where something about their commercial transitions causes the sync to fail (I know Bravo and FX are among the problem ones).

I already have the video locked to 720P and the audio to PCM. The latter because DirecTV sill hasn't resolved its Dolby 5.1 audio drop problem. When I tried running 1080i a few weeks ago, I found some of the captures would not play back on the HD300 (but be fine on a SageTV PC client), so I went back to 720P only.

Can I ask what DirecTV receivers you have and what version of the HD-PVR driver you are running? Has anyone found later drivers to be more prone to this?
