SageTV on ipad - It works

I found this tonight, seems to work really well. I had been using Air Video but this gives me a easy way to get access to SageTV client with plugins and Diamond theme.

http://www.splashtop.com/

Enjoy

Does this only work with a Client? Are there plugins that are required? I tried running this with a SageTV Media Center but the (Sage) screen is blank ...

I have been using this for some time now. Far superior to any other streaming system available including tisagetv, air video. The only one I can get excellent playback on. Justnhave the streamer remote set up on my server, no plugins required, and it just works. The best part is the ability to fast forward seek anywhere in the timeline because I am controlling the playback onnthe server sagetv window itself. Something I couldn't do with any of the other streaming methods which would just buffer until the screen went into lock mode!

Works on Android as well...

I don't mean to Hijack the thread... but I thought I'd say it works great on my Samsung 10.1 Android tablet as well.

I must be doing something horribly wrong. I don't get video or audio, and I also have not figured out how to get to the "Home" screen once I'm in the Guide. What kind of video setup do you guys have on the (Sage) server? Does it matter if it's set to use overlay, VMR or someething?

And you guys that are using Splashtop - does it just work over the LAN or can you get it working over the internet as well?

Same here. I've been watching the Tour de France the last few days on my 10.1 while riding my bike trainer at home.

Btw, for people not getting video or audio, you have to set it to not use overlay. I use vmr9. And set the audio to default audio. And audio is problematic on XP systems. There are some solutions on that page.

It's mostly useful on a LAN. Screen draw over the internet is slow. I've tried using it from my work's dsl to my home (cable) and even navigating the menu's wasn't very good, so I didn't even bother to watch anything.

Wow, really incredible speed for a remote desktop software. This is an excellent fine, thanks for letting us know. I always thought it would be awesome if OnLive released a remote desktop software instead of just streaming games. Splashtop is nearly as good and best of all you don't need a separate placeshifter or client license. And it is way cheaper than a SageTV client license too.

I got it to work, somewhat, after switching to VMR. Still have not gotten the audio to work, using the recommended XP fixes. More importantly, the video playback is pretty choppy. It's not horrible, but I would not like to watch a sporting event in this manner ...

The only issue I have is the size of the window when playing LiveT, Recording etc. Its smaller and off centre. The OSD is fill screen size but whatever program plays the video seems to get dimensions wrong.

Is anyone aware of a way to specify in the properties file ?

Cheers

If this app changes the desktop resolution to fit it's needs then the app is to blame. If it just mirrors what the desktop resolution already is and attempts to scale it down, then you may want to match the resolutions of the desktop with the remote device.

I can't make it work. I am trying to sign in via dyndns. What are the steps you used for remote access over the internet?

oops, forgot the streaming app on the server....working now. But clugey at the moment

and I get a warning indicating that "6 channel audio is enabled on your computer - switch to stereo". Where? My Realtek app, or within Sage, aka do I need to reconfigure SageTV on my server to use analog stereo as opposed to 5.1 SPDIF inputs?

I had to change mine via the windows playback devices menu. You go into the speaker configuration and change it from 5.1 to stereo.

ah, ok. So my recordings won't be effected (they'll still be grabbing 5.1 SPDIF), just streaming playback?

I just tried this on the Motorola Xoom and it worked great! (Placeshifter/Win7/LAN). It'd probably work even better with a Client license. Should be really impressive on GoogleTV when the Market update hits in about a month.

Splashtop Remote Desktop HD is on sale for $2.99 right now at the Android Market: https://market.android.com/details?i...top.remote.pad

Very nice find! I saw this, but I wasn't willing to pay $10 for it. For $3, I picked it up. I've wanted an RDP client that worked well.

And it's now $1.99 at the iTunes store.
