Did you just input the version 5 key? It should take v5 or v6 key. If it was an upgrade key it will ask for the original key if it works like it used to for major upgrade. (I think. )

Contact support.

The V1.4 key was good through to V5 - it seems no upgrade was needed until V6. I was running a very stable v5 system and am only upgrading now because with DTV I'm going to have to have antennas pointing in different directions to get stations to the south (Toronto), north west (Barrie) and east (Peterborough) of me.

Good suggestion - I'll try support.

Thanks!

Narflex, any chance of putting the HD300's back on sale? I need at least 2 more, and can't seem to find them anywhere.

I have Version 6 and want to upgrade to V 7. Is this the files to do this? If it is, can you tell me how to do the upgrade with out loosing my current recordings and channel and other settings?
This would include the recoded show list..

They will run with exisiting V5 or V6 licenses. This is to satisfy existing customers who did an upgrade to V7, but the trial has expired or is about to expire on them.

INSTRUCTIONS:

Replace your existing V7 EXE files for SageTV.exe and SageTVService.exe with the corresponding ones inside the zip files attached to this message. If you have an existing V5 or V6 key, then V7 will function for you properly.

Thanks an enjoy.

First you do the normal v7 install over your current v6 installation. You dont loose anything (well I didnt and Ive seen no complaints)

6 to 7

It seems to me I have to load the trial v7 over my v6 before I can copy over the v7 exe that is posted here. Is this correct?

Correct, all of that will be preserved. As a precaution I'd suggest saving a copy of your v6 wiz.bin just in case something does not go as planned.

just in case you want to revert back to you ver 6 setup

1.) make a system restore point in windows to keep all registry items intact.
2.) zip the complete Stage folder

note: ver 7 changes the Wiz.bin format and after upgrading to ver 7 you can't copy that wiz.bin back and have a ver 6 read it, that is why I would to steps 1 and 2

or do a complete system image backup as Dave would suggest....

V6 to V7

I tried to install the V7 over my v6 and it did not work. The short cut started v6 and then my HD silicon dust tuners did not work. (Analog tuners did work) I was able to go back to a working v6 system by using a restore point before I started the up grade and replacing the Sage TV folder with a copy I made before starting. Any suggestions?

Are you sure it wasn't SageTV7 loading, but using the SageTV6 UI? It will most likely keep your UI settings, as they are in the sageclient.properties settings. You'll have to manually chose the SageTV7.xml file by going to Detailed Setup -> Advanced -> Load STV

all I know is the splash screen said 6. And it only worked with my analog internal tuners. I would not access the Silcon Dust HD tuners

Make sure the v7 upgrade is going to the same directory the v6 is installed in.

Could i just install an fresh v7 and put my v6 key on it?
Paste those 2 .exe and then start sagetv and put my v6 key?

Or i must install v6, then update with v7?

you shouldn't need to upgrade from v6... a clean v7 install should be fine.

Can I still download a trial version?

I'm guessing I'm too late to take advantage of this, as the sagetv web site is pretty much closed down in the wake of the Google acquisition.

I'm a V6 license holder who would love to take advantage of this now. But I can't download a trial of V7 to take advantage of the offer.

I'm interested in upgrading now b/c my local area just went through a DTV switchover (Toronto, Canada) and I can't get my tuners to rescan properly. I figured an upgrade might fix the issues I'm having rather than trying to research and trial and error a bunch of stuff.
