OTA HD channels through cable: How to show with standard cable channels?

Tuner: Hauppauge HVR-2250

I currently have Comcast basic cable (amc, discover, etc). I was able to program all the channels perfectly including the OTA channels but the HD OTA channels can not be tuned into. This is with the cable option in the tuner settings.

In the tuner settings, if I select antenna, I can then tune into the OTA HD channels but I can't tune into any of the cable channels.

Is there a specific way I should be setting this up so that I can view my cable channels AND my OTA HD channels?

I take it no one has any clues?
I know I have 2 tuners, and can set one with regular cable and the other, but would kinda kill being being to record multiple shows at the same time.

Each tuner can be configured as either an ATSC (OTA) tuner or a QAM (digital cable) tuner. It can't do both at once. If you want both, you'll have to assign one tuner to OTA and one to cable. If one of each isn't enough for you, you'll need more tuners.

Alright thanks GK. I just wanted confirmation on that and wasn't sure if there was some ninja setting somewhere that I wasn't sure about.

It's a shame it can't recognize both at the same time though.

I don't believe what GK said is true. I have a 2250 as well with basic Comcast cable, and for a while I was able to get both dual tuners to tune analog and digital (OTA) via my cable wire.

I had to wipe out my SageTV config files for other reasons, and I haven't been able to figure out how to get it back. (So I'm in the same boat as you right now.)

I know before I had to basically configure four tuners -- two analog, two digital. This allowed me to tune an analog channel (say "4") and then press the channel-up button on my remote to tune a digital channel (say "4.1"), but it didn't switch the tuner.

I'll try to play with it a little bit more this weekend and post results here.

Are you trying to do something like this:
If it is and I have what you are trying to do than just make sure you use a different lineup for the Digital verses the SVideo/Composite inputs and you should be able to do it. It only lists two tuners in the Recording schedule but it uses SVideo on my DirectTV and QAM on the Mediacom lineup.
