Re-Cache of Posters

I just installed Diamond and initial cache scan of farnart stops/freezes after 236 of 3200 or so files of posters. This occurs with Server and Client. When I delete cache and rescan, it stops at the same place. Any ideas? Do I have corrupt file that hangs the process up, and if so, how do I ascertain which file is causing this? Thanx..using sagetv v7.1.7...latest diamond..

You'll probably need to wait for plucky ( or EP ) to respond and let you know the best way to trouble shoot this.

It will probably involve enabling logging on the server/client and then trying to recache to see which movie/image it is getting hung up on in the log.

Debugging this will be real easy...

1) On your Server go to Settings->Detailed Settings->Advanced->Enable Logging and then restart your server (This will start generating C:\Program Files\SageTV\SageTV\SageTV_0.txt log files for you)
2) Run your diamond cache rescan and wait until it crashes.
3) Shutdown Sage, make a zip of SageTV_0.txt and post it to this thread and Plucky or I will figure out whats going on.

Also, if you happen to figure out what image is causing the crash on your own *DO NOT DELETE IT*. We'll probably want you to send it to us to take a look at.

I had something similar...make sure in diamond settings you have enabled the option to use local fanart and posters with the correct file type.

Plucky, didn't mean to be pushy, as I do appreciate your contribution (and others as well of course) to this "hobby" of ours...Anyway the symptom is still the same, but I will add that although it freezes, I do have fanart display for most of movies when I look at imported videos...thats why I was asking if this could be "out of memory problem". I also have java heap set to 1024 on server, and since I installed diamond it wants to stay maxed out with Java heap errors via sage..

Did you try moving the file indicated above out of the main BMT folder (or just rename it to something shorter) and see if it will complete recaching? This would verify that the crazy long file name identified above is the problem and not Diamond. Also might make Diamond usable again as the caching would complete. Just a thought and might be worth a try.

Cheers,

Jeremy

Hey gbob,

I deleted all my fanart posters for the movie "(500) Days of Summer" and replaced with the one image you posted with the same name and it cached ok for me. I managed to cache/delete/recache the image and verified that it was the only one in use using CMT (jerekiwi) and BMT.

Diamond recaching (from the settings menu -delete all fanart and recache) didn't have any issue with the file you posted on my system (my fanart stored on Sagetv servier machine accessed by Sagetv client PC over gigabit lan). I have never had it hang on caching fanart and I've tested probably 20-30 different versions of the Diamond API that does the caching since last fall so not sure what to suggest at this point.

Any non Diamond plugins installed?

Just for confirmation (and I'm not trying to be annoying...), when you open up the Diamond options (hit excape on the main menu and select "Diamond Options") you do see Diamond 3.3 STVi and 3.3 API?

Thanks,

J

Yes it says diamond 3.30...and have malore, bmt, comercial detector-player, java heap monitor, cpu monitor, always show sub-menus, change channel to record, phoenix farnart for malore menus, phoenix farnart for sagetv v7,restart sage from setup menu, and retrict access plugins enabled.

This problem is with the API and the title. As stated above when we get some time I will look at it. We use googlecode to track issues and prioritize and them this issue is not logged yet....to that end I think the default may be better suited as you may not have the patience it takes to wait for people that do this for hobby and FREE to fix issues you might have. Based on your previous post I think we will enjoy the default UI.

Plucky its not a matter of patience, its a matter of sage running out of memory and then needing to stop/restart sage to make it operable again....And yes I know its free and as I said several posts up I APPRECIATE your and posters above for any/all help offered...Not sure why u think I pi$$ed in your cornflakes, but I can assure u, if I did it wasn't intentional...
