Dolby digital plus - No audio

Hi

I added some channels that use "Dolby digital plus" audio to my line-up and I have no sound on my HD200 or SageTV client.

I know the HD300 decodes DD+ , but what about the HD200 ? Could it be codec related as it does not work on SageTV client either ?

Thank you for your help.

The HD200 and HD300 does everything in hardware and does not use codecs. Digital Dolby plus is Enhanced-AC3. I would guess that the HD200 will pass it through to a receiver that can decode it but doesn't decode it natively.

Thank you gplasky.

I managed to get it working on my SageTV Extender by installing ffdshow.

I am now going to check the HD200 , fingers crossed.

If I'm not mistaken DD+ (E-AC3) has to go through HDMI as spdif and optical won't pass anything but 2ch pcm, DTS, and AC3. If the hd200 could get the AC3 stream out then it would work.

From wikipedia "Dolby Digital Plus bitstreams are not backward compatible with legacy Dolby Digital decoders, and decoders that output audio over legacy S/PDIF connections must transcode the bitstreams to an older format such as PCM, AC-3, or DTS."

still no luck on HD200.

I am using digital audio output (cable with red light) to send to a home theatre (Sony BDVE370) , so that could be why it is not output.

I tried several methods ( using HDMI , using my home cinema ) without success.

I assume that unlike the HD300 , the HD200 does not support DD+ (E-AC3)

The audio specs for HD300 show DD+ :

Audio formats supported: MP2, MP3, AAC, AAC-HE, ALAC, WMA, WMAPro, PCM, Vorbis (stereo only), FLAC, DolbyDigital/DolbyDigital+/DolbyTrueHD* (stereo down-mix or pass-through), DTS/DTS-HD/DTS-MA (stereo down-mix or pass-through)

Is there a similar audio format list for the HD200 ?

I see, that makes sense. Wonder if HD200 could have an option to downconvert DD+ (E-AC3) into DD (AC3).... I submitted a request to SageTV, but doubt it will be feasible.

Thx

Raised a ticket, SageTV replied it was not possible to downcovert the "Digital Dolby Plus" into "Digital Dolby" due to issues with how the transcoder works.

In a last desperaste resort, I set up the channels using StephaneM's LM DVB smart Recorder and now I have the sound working for these channel ....

The transcoding must be different , so all ok now.
