IPTV/International Channels recording - Web Feed Encoder/PlayOn/DLNA
I have searched and did not find a definitive answer on this. Please forgive me if this has been discussed before.
We currently get couple of international channels via Dish and pay through nose for that. I have a PVR500 to record those channels and every one is happy.
However, it appears that same channels and a lot more are available from yupptv.com for a lot less price. YuppTV is available via Roku as well as PlayOn/DLNA. So now I am wondering if there is a way to get these channels to appear in Sage and behave like regular channels for time shifting.
I could buy a Roku box and use PVR-500 or HD-PVR etc. But it seems silly to convert digital/analog/digital and not to mention the difficulty of tuning it.
PlayOn and PlayOn plugin would let me access this directly from Sage with no boxes in the middle. But I don't have a way to time shift. I understand that recording PlayOn streams is a taboo subject, but I don't think it is taboo in this context. After all, I am not doing anything different than regular TV (no Netflix etc). Is there way to schedule recording via PlayOn plugin?
Another option is Web Feed Encoder, which is great for streams with URL, but unfortunately this is not. If WFE can use DLNA to snarf PlayOn videosand present them as regular channels, that would be perfect. But I don't think it is possible (yet?).
Any other options or ideas?
Thanks
