Question Difference btw Media Server and Media Center

I have noticed that on the free downloads one can download Media Center (Windows or Mac) or Media Server (Linux)

What is the difference between both products?

I think the Linux version has no built in UI, so requires a client to connect to it...

Media center is both server and ui if you want to use the server to view media.

Ok, I think I get it. I have a few questions on the Server:

1. How do you configure your server is you don't have a UI?
2. How can I evaluate the free version without a UI? Do I need to also download a client for Windows or Mac?

PlaceShifter is a client that will let me configure the server? What's the difference btw PlaceShifter and a Client then?

There is no client for Linux (at least in the free download section)

Basically, thin client v. thick client, optimized for different use cases. Placeshifter is designed primarily for portability and remote use over the Internet. SageTV Client is meant for high-bandwidth LAN use, with greater flexibility in playback options. See the FAQ for more details.
