possibly impossible question about Sellect/Play

this is probably more of a Fonceur question than a Plucky Question, but it is directly related to SMM, I think, so I will post it here...

I want the volume on my Lex to be -15db when playing a movie selected from SMM... (ie DVD's and HD DVD's and BR...)
setting the volume is easy, but how do I determine that the item being played is in fact a movie selected from SMM?
or alternatively how can I tell if something is a recording? so I can set the vol down to like -25 or so?
