For some off wall reason I can't make post there
Just my though on it

Jarred Walton
"Now stick several Colossus cards next to each other and you could be in for trouble without additional fans"
Only a dumdee would try using a small HTPC cases with several Colossus card beside that it better suite for a media sevrer any way with that min card.

"Not all recordings are watchable"
That a bitstream issue and they are looking in to this which has to do BSOD issue to best thing to reboot ever day I know not idea way of doing things and I couldn't aggree more on that one.

"Software/hardware bundle adds unnecessary cost with not additional value for DVR use"
Don't you mean just the Software?
I find Arcsoft’s ShowBiz very useful but it not for DVR use it capture only for DVR use you used WinTV 7 or any 3rdparty you like
Who know maybe they do OEM ver where get nothing other then drivers and save what $20.

"No HDMI pass-through"
And how do you plan add that when there no room for it.

"BSOD when continuously recording for more than sixteen hours"
This being address

"Full height card leaves low-profile HTPC users out"
Who know maybe there plan on one but you see they have dump HDMI and all Audio/Video output.

Any way Andrew good job on your review.

I mean everything but the card and the dongles. The remote, blasters and ShowBiz. If you're just going to use it w/ Sage that stuff just adds cost and ends up in the closet.

A break-out or daughter card would to it. Obviously they see value in pass through, so it is something that should be noted as "missing".

Things is some people do need the remote and ir blaster

A break-out box not going to happing due to high wire count but daughter card should be possable but you end up less slots that way and it extra cost of having the daughter card made and a HDMI Transmitter would have to be add the card which drive up the card cost even more.
So the 2nd option is 2 Mini HDMI redo the analog video to cover both input and outout with one custom made Mini HDMI stye pluging and when all done and said you now have petty much dbl cost the card any way which I'm pettey will be the caes.

If you need the remote and blaster, that's what the retail package should be for. For everyone else, it's not useful. I have a box full of Hauppauge remotes - ask me how often they get used...

A break-out is possible if done right; but it might drive the cost up too much for a feature I wouldn't use (but that's not the point).

As far as I'm concerned they could remove all the IR functionality as well. It's poorly implemented in that it won't work when more than one Hauppauge device is installed, most DVR users use something else such as firewire, or USB-UIRT and the space used by the IR connecter could be used for the HDMI pass-thru.

That only under Windows where that not the case with Linux but any case I agree and USB-UIRT better any way.

It would have be full custom made and tooling would have custom made as well as there is no stardard off shelf product out that small enough to work on slot other then what look like old SCSI terminal interface

For the Colossus not at this time that I know of.
How ever Dean did ask for Development SDK kit to do Linux drivers as to weather or not he was able to get it that I don't know I hope that hauppauge did after all that helps in finding bugs and sale should go there roof like PVR 150/250 did.
The drivers are full linux dir I see then in hcwd1xcd.sys so there should be no reason for it not work in Linux as well.
