Upgrade went south - Wiz.bin questions..
I updated to 7.15 from what I believe was the last beta of 7.0. Meaning I never installed the 'non-beta' of the current SageTV. I had read that the last beta was exactly the same so why bother!
Stupidly, I did not backup my sage directory, I guess I had become so confident in the betas that I let that slip. And I did not uninstall the current sageTV, which I think I should have. In any event, had I done the upgrade like I normally do I would be golden. but I didn't. I could go into many details, but I think they're irrelevant. Suffice to say when all was said and done I had NO favorites, and my EPG guide data was missing info for the HD-PVR. We've re-added our favorites, I followed a FAQ opus pointed out to Slugger regarding the EPG info. but my question is this: is my wiz,bin corrupt? My wiz.bin is still large (at least large compared to an empty one, I think it's 8000 is and an empty one I had saved from 6.x was like 300. Sage no longer seems to know about any of my past recordings, yet archived files are still marked archived. Should I do anything? thanks, Jeff

Take a look in your SageTV directory. It should have made a backup called something like wiz.bin.70023 or something along that line. (Whatever the last version was) And you should just be able to upgrade over an existing installation. You don't have to uninstall. But you do want to stop the SageTV service prior to upgrading. (Not sure if the install stops it or not.) And you already know the benefit of doing a backup. I always just backupo the whole directory. 'Nuff said.
