wiz.bin v7 to v6?

I read the bullet list of items of the latest RC release of sage v7. I haven't bothered to use it until it goes gold. However, one line that caught my attention was

The Wiz.bin file from 7.0.17 is NOT backwards compatible with prior versions due to the introduction of a new datatype for plugin developers

Does this apply to v6, or is this a v7 beta to v7 beta minor release note? I guess I'm thinking if v6 is not upgradable to v7 as far as wiz.bin I'll upgrade the OS, otherwise I won't.

Can anyone elaborate?

The release notes say "Wiz.bin from 7.0.17 is NOT backwards compatible with prior versions" -- not backwards compatible means you can't use the wiz.bin from v7.0.17 with an older version of SageTV if you were to install an older version. There is no problem upgrading from a prior version to v7.0.17 and continuing using your existing wiz.bin.
