This plugin for some reason suddenly causes a box to appear when playing some of my .m2ts files. It says "error 12 there was a null object requested for playback" disabling the playon plugin resolves issue.

That's odd, can check those files with MediaInfo and post the output? I'm wondering if they have some metadata (specifically the Comment and Copyright) attached to them that's conflicting with my queue importer dummy video detection...

I don't know if someone else asked this or not, but can the PlayOn plugin use the Parental Controls password to lockout accessing PlayOn content? Same way the other Online Services in Sage can require putting in the Parental Control password. Otherwise, there's too much stuff in there that I don't want open to the kiddies just browsing around.

True, but SageTV doesn't allow you to login to your Youtube account like Playon does to view your favorites, playlists, and subscriptions.

I can vouch for PDK being a nice product, but I have not used the multi-platform features of it since they moved the other platforms to "Business Edition"

Since upgrading, I've seen some of my Netflix content duplicated. One entry will have the lovely new "N" icon and the other does not. Those that do not not have the icon do not work (I see the error video). So far, all those I've checked that have the new icon are .m4v files and the others are .mkv files.

Anyone else encountered this issue?

Can I safely delete the .mkv files manually or is there something I can do using one of the plugin options to clean this up?

Figured out how to compile with PDK for Linux without the Business Edition, but whoa, they raised the cost of a single license! It really is $300 now.

HELP with Netflix TV Series Queue import

Hi all, I have Netflix Movies and HULU queue/browser and queue import working. However, NetFlix TV seems odd.. I have 2 tv series on my instant queue, and only Top Gear gets imported into My Videos. "Dexter" gets skipped.

UPnPBrowser seems to see both tv shows per attached log but doesn't create the for Dexter. Any ideas?

I only get a Partial Listing

Here is my Setup:
SageTV Beta 7.1.5 running on headless server
Diamond Theme 3.20 (Simplified)
HD200 Extender

I've got the Playon plugin installed and it runs fine. I can generate lists and play back videos. Everything works fine except I don't get a full listing of available videos. For example, if I go to CBS.com and browse primetime my list stops at "Rules of Engagement". Where's Survivor? My wife and daughter give me that look like I'm purposely withholding content from them...

I attached a logfile where I browsed to Hulu. When I browse to shows starting with S my list on the HD200 stops at "Smart girls at the Party", but the log file shows the full list.

I have an Apple TV2 running XBMC which can also use Playon and it shows the full video listings.

Any ideas?

Sorry if this was already answered, I have read most of the thread and did not see it...........

Is there a way to "hard code" a server into the PlayOn plugin config? It is not finding my server, which is on a different box then SageTV is on.

I do have more than 1 "network" adapter in my SageTV server. I have a Ceton, which shows up as a network adapter, and I have home video security system (logitech) that uses powerline networking for the cameras, so it shows up as a network adapter too. I assume that is why the upnpbrowser cant find my server. When I run the command line search, which I have run for 10 minutes, it doesn't find it. Anyway, if I could just tell it what the server name (or IP address) is, then I would guess it would work.

BTW, playon is working fine, because my Roku finds it and can play videos from it (with bad lip-sync problems after the recent Roku firmware update).

I'm having little luck running the PlayOn plugin on my separate PC SageTVClient with the latest plugin and PlayOn software. For some reason, neither the category searches (i.e. PlayOn->News->CNN) bring up any video lists, nor does the playback work for the NetFlix queue, there I get Java time outs after the video buffers for a while.

Everything works great on the client on the server however (I'm running 7.1.15b everywhere) and I think the HD300 is fine too, I'll have to recheck that. I've tried reinstalling the plugin, turning off firewalls, virus checkers on all PC's etc., nothing has helped. I could have sworn this all worked with an earlier version of the plugin.

And of course I recently just paid for PlayOn.

Anything else I should be looking for? Thanks in advance.

Edit: Did notice something. For some reason the UPnPBrowser thinks the client is v6.0.19.120, might that matter? Here is the log from a CNN search:

Question Two questions related to Playon video/audio playback reliability

I'm hoping I can help resolve two Playon issues on a Windows PC based client. This doesnt happen on my HD-200 extender.

1.
When I play a Playon-based movie or TV show, the incorrect aspect ratio is used when aspect ratio is set to "source" on a 16x9 1080p display. The only way to fix this is to temporarily change overall Aspect Ratio Mode: to "16x9" or "Stretch" while watching the playon Movie/TV show.. then put it back to "Source when I'm done.

Is there a sageTV client properties file setting or registry setting that can fix this? I have sageTV configured to use native sageTV directshow audio/video decoders, splitters, etc for all Online Video content; which does work for perfectly for non-Playon Online Videos.

2. This question may be related to my first question above. I recently added "Reclock" on my SageTV client to get audio/video syncronized and help with bit-perfect audio, etc. Unfortunately playon has an adverse affect on Playon based content. The audio is "chopped up" and has this undesirable echo-like audio effect. Reclock is relatively popular for HTPC enthusiasts; so, I'm guessing there are some people who use it for sageTV who may know how to fix this issue.

I dont know if this is important, but: ALL other SageTV "Online Videos" based streaming (ie, "Movie Times" sagetV 7 plugin, native sageTV 7 Youtube/Google videos, etc) are played back perfectly on the same PC using the correct aspect ratio when sagetv set to "source".

I'm not sure if there's a separate fix for both issues mentioned above. But, maybe its possible to have an option for Playon to comply to the "Detailed Setup/Video-Audio/Media Player for non-MPEG files" setting (when set to SageTV player for Online Videos) so Playon content can be handled just like any other native SageTV 7 Online Video feature and related plugins like "Movie Times" and "Movie Trailers" (which playback perfectly). Using the sageTV player and all internal related components (if at all possible) would also shift the responsibility for playing back Online content correctly to the sageTV 7 software itself; which might do a better job with less unpredictability in reliable playback. Using builtin/native components (similar concept to the HD-200) might really help.

Thanks in advance in all the SageTV Playon development progress!

Duplicate Netflix entries

@Zuhkov

I have this issue also. I just upgraded Sunday and have not had the chance to fiddle with it other than to have BMT rescan the library and have Playon plug in manually update. Didn't work though.

Did some more experimenting. The plugin works fine on one PC client, but not the other. The only immediate difference I can see is that UPnPBrowser sees the troubled SageTV client as version 6.0.19.120 (v7.15b is installed). Does anyone know how the UPnPBrowser determines the version?

And what is "disableSubcats" and where does that come from?? I don't see it happening on the other client. Thanks.

Check your Sage.properties and SageClient.properties for the string SageTV V6.0.19.120... it'll probably be on a line like
Code:
version=SageTV V6.0.19.120
If you find it, delete it, and things should start working.

SageTV : PlayOn, SJQ, MediaShrink, Comskip, Jetty, Web Client, BMT

Having a problem? Don't forget to include a log! (Instructions for: PlayOn For SageTV v1.5, MediaShrink)

Can't seem to find this. Could be my search abilities. But, can I move the location of the Playon menu item? It is currently on the main menu at the very top, above TV. I'd like to slide it down a bit.

Also I thought I'd try putting it back in the online menu, but don't see any configuration options.

Argh!! One of the first things I did was use XP's Explorer to search for that string but it never did find it (but it did in other log files). Of course there it was, in an ancient Sage.properties file from when I first installed Sage years ago when this box was a server.

That fixed it, thanks!!

Is there a way to save Online Video for viewing later?

Just curious if it's possible to queue/save online videos for later viewing? I'm using diamond theme and do see the option to save after video completes, but would like to schedule a couple netflix videos to stream during the day. I'm in an unfortunate situation whereby my nighttime bandwidth is slower due to other hoggers in the neighborhood. This causes netflex to really downgrade video quality to be watchable :T

Can't get playback working

I have PlayOn installed and setup. I am using BMT and Diamond. I got this plugin to create a bunch of small dummy files from the stuff that is in my Netflix Que, but I can't get those videos to show up in my Diamond views. I double checked and have my filters set to include PlayOn content.

Is there any other reason you can think of?

Thanks
Les
