In the Program Guide, where do the small backgrounds come from?

In the Program Guide, I've got BG Fanart turned on. For shows where I know BMT has downloaded metadata and Fanart, everything is great. However, there aren't that many shows in my guide that I actually record. I was wondering about how to go about getting more Fanart backgrouds when I noticed that far a lot of shows in the guide, the upper right hand corner shows something that would often make a great BG Fanart image. Where do these small images come from? They load fast and they show up for a ton of shows I have never recorded. Is this Diamond or core Sage7 doing this lookup? Could Diamond use these for BG Fanart?

No they are not high enough resolution for backgrounds they are simple thumbnails either of the recording or of the series.
