Having problem getting OTA chanels after rebuilding server
I just rebuilt my server from scratch with 2008R2 64bit. I loaded the os, BDA tuners driver support, hdhome run drivers, sagetv 7.15.
Now sagetv can see the hdhomerun tuners, but when I scan for channels, it just flies though trying the channels and finds nothing. If I run the config tool for the hdhomerun it shows signal on those tuners. Where I'm confused is when I setup the tuner source, do I choose annetna, or cabvle tv. then for the provider should I use digital broadcast-zipcode. I know this was needed when there was the EPG changes but now I'm not sure what's happening. Any thoughts? Thanks

With it flying thru the scan I think it is looking for the .frq files and not finding them. For OTA you wouldn't have any. So I think you're missing the part to tell it you are on an antenna, then your zip and then choosing cable for the digital broadcast zip thing.

I know when there was the problem about a month ago on the epg, and we had to choose cable tv instead of OTA. Do we still need to do that?
thanks

I think in the latest beta it is more straightforward. But I believe Sage needs to know if you're doing OTA or cable. It's the picking of the channel lineup that had changed.

Well, somehing is missing here. I tell it to use OTA and I choose my zip with digital broadcast and still finds no channels. I know the hardware is finer, because I put the old drive in and sage works find finding channels.
I fell I'mm missing something since this is a 2008 server build. I did load the BDA drivers, I though that's all I needed. I'm stumped!

I had this happen to me once in a beta. The OTA scan wouldn't find anything. It didn't fly thru it but just didn't find anything. I rolled back to a previous version. And did the update install again. The channel scan worked. No explaination. Backup and uninstall. And then install the beta again. That's the only help I have.

I'm having a similar issue with 7.1.5. Ever since I upgraded my HDHomerun seems to "randomly" lose the ability to tune channels and I get the "no signal" message on all my OTA channels. Sometimes rebooting the HDHomerun and / or the server works, but sometimes it just stubbornly refuses... then a few hours later it works.
These are not borderline signals either. I am in downtown Toronto with a clear line of sight to the CN Tower. My antenna can pick up local stations even if its facing the wrong direction, so I am sure its not a reception problem. |
