From the bmt web UI you should be able to change the fanart folder location. Configure -> Fanart/Metadata Options -> Central Fanart Folder.

When you click on the recording in bmt and you go to the metadata view, IF it doesn't have season/episode data, then click find metadata and update the show and save.

If you are trying to set the default poster then you click on the mini poster icon in the metadata editor, and then select the poster/banner/background that you want to use as the default.

I guess I don't quite understand. Are you talking about from within bmt? In bmt there is a single metadata editor which is used to configure the metadata and set default fanart images. The fanart panel is a very crude panel that shows fanart image, and a horizontal scrolling list of possible selections. When you click on an image from the horizontal scroll list, it will show it in a larger form. You can then click set default to make that the default image.

If you are talking about How do I show banners in INSERT_YOUR_PLUGIN_NAME_HERE, then you'll have to ask the plugin author. Bmt's role is to simply fetch metadata and fanart.

Let me try to make an example and to try to explain what i'd like to do;

I go
/browse
/browse/Recordings

there i have all my sagetv recordings

American Dad
American Dad/s4 e1, s2 e1, s1 e5, etc.

from here if i want to edit something i have to select a file i.e. [s4 e1] and edit the info for that particular file, but can i edit the parent folder? [American Dad]? to change its banner and the season information and not the particular show information?

I see now. No, bmt does not do Series level editing, but it does download series level fanart. It's something that would be nice to add in, if I can find the time.

I see, thanks stuckless for your help. Any other workaround to do the series level editing? another program?

Unfortunately it would be up to specific plugins to do this. I don't know of any plugins that do series level editing of fanart.

bmt has metadata sources for tmdb, tvdb, imdb, and dvdprofiler. Each has a different way of getting access to content. bmt filename scrapes the information from the files and then does a lookup against one or more sources for metadata/fanart and then it downloads the content.
