Record weekend show

There is a local news broadcast that I would like to record on Saturday and Sunday, but not weekdays. The show title is the same for all seven days of the week and the show plays at the same time each day. I tried to use the advanced recording options to select only Saturday and Sunday, but I am only able to select a single day, such as Saturday.

I tried to create a second favorite for Sunday, but Sage says that the favorite already exists.

How do I record this show only on Saturday and Sunday?

Not sure if this would work but have you tried to manual record and repeat the manual record?

I would probably open a bug report with Sage since I suspect that you should be able to create those two separate favourites. Hopefully they'll fix that, but in the mean time the only way to do what you want is to manually mark the Sat/Sun airings for recording, expand the fav to include every day and mark Mon-Fri as watched so they don't record, or write a script/plugin that does the last option for you automatically, which is what I'd do.

So I'd just create a favourite that doesn't restrict by day and then I'd write a script that automatically checks the recording schedule periodically and marks the Mon-Fri airings as watched. Hopefully Sage fixes the ability to create both favs, but in the mean time, this is how I'd tackle it.

Ah, forgot about that... that's also a good idea to check into as the first alternative before mine.

I just tested this and it works fine. I setup the favorite through the guide then I set the favorite to only Saturday then I did the same for Sunday... see bottom right Public Access screen shot. You sure you do not have any favorite plugins installed?

Thank you for taking the time to test this. I repeated your steps and successfully created the two favorites as you described. I'm not sure what I was doing previously, but this time I added the favorite and then used the Advanced options to change the day to Saturday. The favorite was created with "Saturday" appended to the favorite name. I repeated the procedure for Sunday. I can now record the show only on the weekend. Thanks again!
