missing selection icon in DVD menu, and how to select root menu

whenever I play a ripped DVD, the little icon that shows you what selection you're on (play movie, extra features, audio, etc.. . ) is missing.

anyone experience this and know a fix?



also, whenever you're watching a DVD, how do you return to the root menu of the DVD without having to stop/restart the movie?

Check your 'Video Renderer' in Setup->Detailed_Setup->Audio/Video. It seems like using overlay can cause this. Try changing it to EVR or VMR if either of those are available

You would need to assign a remote button or keyboard command to the 'DVD Menu' or 'DVD Title Menu' event. See page 217 in the manual.

i tried every 'renderer' option available and that still didn't work. EVR and VMR were available.

Did you stop and restart the DVD after making the change? IIRC the media player won't reload on the fly so if you have a DVD playing and make the change you won't see the results until you stop playback and restart. EVR is the preferred video renderer so set it to EVR unless you have a compelling reason not to.

Also check Setup->Detailed_Setup->DVD->Renderer and set that to EVR as well. TBO I'm not sure which setting controls the renderer used for ripped DVDs....

If that doesn't get it fixed I'm out of ideas and hopefully someone else may chime in with something I'm overlooking.

Edit: Looks like this thread had a similar issue and changing the DVD Renderer away from overlay fixed it. Sounds like Sage uses the DVD Renderer for ripped DVD's

I was changing the renderer in the audio/video setup originally; making the changes in the DVD menu fixed it.
