Do you have any codec packs installed (like those used by programs like Media Portal)? What about FFDSHow, do you have that installed? If yes to either, I would uninstall them and try running without them for a while to see if the crashes go away.

Hi, thank you for your help.

I did have FFDshow installed but after it was crashing around every hour or so I uninstalled it. The reason I think it's comskip is it didn't crash until I got it going again.

I can't see how comskip would cause any sort of crashing. It doesn't do anything more than what pressing the skip fwd and skip bkwd do.

Funny, now one of my HTPCs is crashing pretty regularly. Error file is same as above.

Machine has been rock solid since v7 installed. No OS or Java updates installed since setup.

Win7 Pro64, Sage Client 7, No A/V, various plugins of course incl. Comskip (although it is not causing same issue on any other Client so I think it's not the problem).

Only installed ffdhow and Matroska splitter.

Happens during Live TV occasionally.

Since these are the only ones installed on all of my clients, and this is the only system with the issue, and nothing is/has been updated on any of them, why now?

Couldn't tell you. But if you uninstall them and the crashing stops it gives you something else to start troubleshooting.

Comskip playback, yes. The actual comskip program processes the files to mark for commercials.

I think the crash likely came from comskip running for live TV. It's not currently running on live TV for some reason and the crashes have stopped.

Is your hard drive slow, failing, or badly fragmented? If you are using the Commercial Detector plugin to launch comskip, check the plugin configuration (Setup->Detailed Setup->Customize->Comskip Playback Options->CommercialDetector Configure) and be sure the 'Run More Slowly' option is set to True. If you are launching comskip by some other method, be sure to use the --playnice command line parameter with comskip to have it process the files a little slower so it doesn't monopolize the hard drive I/O.

If you have any hs_err*.* log files in your SageTV directory, you might want to submit the most recent hs_err logs with a support request to SageTV and let them know something is causing SageTV live TV playback to crash. If something is causing an exception in the playback code, it should be handled gracefully. You've possibly found an exception that hasn't been anticipated and should be reported to SageTV Support.

Thanks for the help. I will try that this weekend.
