SageMC vs SageTV GUI

I'm still on SageMC as user interface rather than the new SageTV V7 interface.

I'm trying to get used the V7 interface and would like to switch as SageMC does have a few rough edges and I'm not sure of how supported it is now.

In using SageTV interface rather than SageMC theres a few things I'm really missing:

1. Blue two - clean, shiny, fast, and uncluttered. I found the default STV with images behind the menus taxing on the eye although nice to see at the top level menu.
2. Recordings - there is grouping by title but I would love to be able it to additionally group all movies. SageMC seems to do that.
3. The preview screen - so you can go back from viewing into the menu system and still see in the bottom left what you were watching and quickly go back to it.

Anybody else feel the same way? Anybody found any compromises, plugins or config settings that might help?

Michael

1. Use the Diamond UI. There is a Blue Two-type theme included.
2. Enable the secret setting and use the Malore menu.
3. If video is playing and you're back at the Main Menu use the Left arrow. That will get you back to the Video that's playing.

Are there any screen shots of the "Blue Too" diamond theme?

I too really enjoy the SageMC experience, but understand that support is limited. Would love to see an alternative that was as clean and usable... and supported.

Interesting... would love to see more shots of the total experience - compared to the SageMC screens.

I feel completely the same way and so do many others. I am continuing to use SageMC on my five extenders where the rest of the family watches TV. On my server I am running one of the new Diamond themes.

Diamond is pretty nice, but for the rest of the family I find that the menus are too cluttered and they tend to get lost in all of the options. The screen shot that jorton posted is nice (although I prefer one of the other Diamond themes - Diamond Serenity Blue) but it has 10 menu items which, IMHO, is about 7 too many.

I am hoping that Phoenix or Ortus will be out soon and will be the logical upgrade from SageMC. I believe that meinmaui is one of the leaders of the Phoenix UI project and he was the main caretaker of SageMC, at least in the last few years.

Ditto.

Would love to see SageMC simplicity (copy), with BMT support, PlayOn, and the menus to support BD playback built in.

That is about all that is needed.

IMHO the BMT support, especially Fanart, is as good as what you get in Sage7. For some reason the default UI has pretty much no support for Fanart.

As mentioned above - Phoenix looks very promising.
