SageTV WHS Upgrade from 6 to 7 - nervous!
I've been holding off upgrading my production system, but this holiday period is a good time to finally get the family on SageTV 7. So I attempted to upgrade this morning. First, I stopped the SageTV service from the WHS console, then ran the 7 installer from "add-ins" the panel. I got an error stating Sage was still running. I RDP'd in, and verified the service wasn't running. I then manually disabled the service and rebooted. I tried again to install 7 from the "add-ins" panel and still received an error that Sage was running. Huh? How can that be since the service was disabled?
So... what do I do? Any other WHS users out there encounter similar issues? The WAF can't handle a long outage, so I need to be sure that I do this right the first time. Thanks all, and Merry Christmas! Adam

I just did this.
1 - Shutdown Sage Service in console 2 - RDP and ran services.msc to ensure service was stopped 3 - Copied entire Sage directory to a backup location 4 - Deleted contents of original Sage install directory 5 - Installed Sage7 addin in via WHS console 6 - Stopped Sage7 service 7 - Copied backed up wiz.bin file from Sage6 BU directory 8 - Restarted service from console 9 - Reboot now 10 - Launched program and went through setup Understand the time constraints |
