WHS Died, time to upgrade

Came home Friday to the classic smell of burnt electronics in the basement and the WHS was off. Seems I missed the magic smoke party but the northbridge on my WHS motherboard was elevtybillion degrees so its time to get real hardware meant for 247 operation and with the WAF at level orange OMG WTF BBBQ where are my pictures/music/movies?! I went big:

Item List:

WHS:
1 x ($167.99) MB SUPERMICRO|MBD-C2SBC-Q-O 775 Q35 $167.99
1 x ($9.49) CPU COOLER EVERCOOL| EC-PT12-9525EA $9.49
2 x ($46.99) MEM 1Gx2|KST 240P KVR800D2N5K2/2G R $93.98
1 x ($9.49) CABLE 1ST PC|CB-SATA-SD67 R $9.49
1 x ($29.99) DVD BUR SAMS|SN-S083C/BEBE % - OEM $29.99
1 x ($54.99) NBHD 250G|WD 7K 16M WD2500BEKT % - OEM $54.99
5 x ($119.99) HD 2T|WD WD20EARS 64M % - OEM $599.95

SAGETV:
1 x ($199.99) CPU AMD|PH II X6 1055T AM3 RT $199.99
1 x ($108.99) MB GIGABYTE GA-870A-UD3 RT $108.99
1 x ($84.99) VGA GIGABYTE|GV-R557OC-1GI HD5570 R $84.99
1 x ($179.99) HDD 2T|WD 7K 64M SATA WD2001FASS % - OEM $179.99
1 x ($84.99) MEM 2Gx2|CORSAIR CMV4GX3M2A1333C9 R $84.99
1 x ($119.99) PSU CORSAIR|CMPSU-650HX 650W RT $119.99
1 x ($-2.99) DISCOUNT FOR PREFERRED ACCOUNT$-2.99

To clarify, the supermicro server board is for the WHS, I have a 2.93Ghz E8400 lying around I plan to use and also I ordered another SAS expander earlier in anticipation of adding more drives so ~ 23TB here I come. The six core AMD processor and 2TB WD black is for my sage box, I decided its time to get the commercial skipping done in a more timely manner even though this box was separate and did not suffer an untimely demise. I have an older 30GB OCZ SSD lying around I was thinking of trying to use that for the Sage server boot drive, any one else use gen1/2 SSDs on their sage setup?

Arrives tomorrow, wish me luck.

Do you also plan on pulling the data off the old drives to the new system?

Thanks for the tip. I will have to wait for the fall season and accidentally break mine so I have to rebuild...

For WHS yes, Sage, maybe a few recorded shows. I'm banking on the reinstall method that will rebuild my file system from the tombstones on the pool drives.

Holy Crap! I don't wish a WHS server drive failure on my worst enemy, its crazy what you have to do to swap drives.

Long story short version:

- Motherboard died, original system drive fine
- Tried an 'server reinstall' on new system drive at first, after 3 attempts over 3 days I gave up and installed my old system drive to see if it boots the new motherboard
- Got very lucky, it does! Fixed drivers, added drives, etc
- Swapped system drives using acronis 11 and guides posted here:

Thanks to those guys I am up and running, still having an issue with one of my SAS backplanes on my Norco 4220 or a SAS port on one of my AOC-SASLP-MV8 adapters, still tracking that down so I can add two more 2TB drives, but here is where I'm at now:
