Local Pics and Videos on STV Client

Hi All,

I am the proud owner of an ExoPC !
As long time SageTV user I can now - with the Client- watch all my favourite pictures and videos and live TV.

But As this is a Tablet and very portable, I'd like to use this interface to show off my local pictures and videos on my Tablet. (Media Center too slow for this Atom 45O processor)

However, how do you add local files to the Video and Photos tab in the client interface ?

You would need to share those folders on your tablet. Then go into Sage and add them as Import directories. Keep in mind this would only work on your local LAN and as long as the tablet is running.

With some clever network drive routing, combined with a VPN, you could have the files in the library, but the client would still play them locally (If the client can access the media directly, it will, and avoid passing through the server). The VPN would be required so that the server could still see them for scans and just s general 'presence check' of the files.

Thanks for the reply, but this is kind of Chinese for me. What do you mean by clever network routing? Could you be more specific? A step by step what to do would be super nice.

Tnx in advance,

Birger

You'd have to set up a VPN (Virtual Private Network) so that the tablet is logically always a part of your local LAN. This way the file share is always available to the sage server. How to set up the VPN I can't really walk you through, as it's something I haven't done in many years.

If you just want to play single media files from your local disk, there's a Browse Local Filesystem option under Search. This will not make them show up in the Import lists, but it will let you play them.
