HD300 question watching show while still being recorded?

I'm a brand-new SageTV user - coming over from Beyond TV. Have had STV 7 up for about a week while I waited on my HD300 which finally arrived today. So far have the server and plugins Comskip, Jetty, etc... configured to work great with my client PC. Rather steep learning curve, but LOVE IT!

Plugged in the HD300 this evening and found it pretty easy to setup and plays recorded shows great. However, when I try to watch a show from the beginning, which happens to be still in record mode it pauses every 2-3 seconds and is just not usable. Am I trying to do something that is not advisable?

(Example: Dancing with the stars is being recorded..about 1.5 hours into a 2 hour show. I click to watch the show from the beginning and it stutters every 2-3 seconds.)

My server is a tri-core AMD, Windows 7-64, 4GB RAM...and its only running at about 7% CPU utilization.

Thanks

Sorry, I don't have any ideas for you. Just wanted to say I do this all the time without any stuttering or other problems. That is, a show is recording, and while it's recording, I watch it from the beginning, skipping commercials to eventually catch up to "real time".

Any PVR should be able to this. I hope you figure out what's going on...
(Oh, one caveat, I'm running without any plug-ins...perhaps you have a plug-in that's causing problems?)

I would look at your disk utilization (this sounds like a throughput issue not a cpu issue)... are you recording to your os drive? is there any other disk activity going on that could be limiting the read / write access to the drive? Do you have an on-access virus scanner active on the recording directories? Do you have fulltime disk defragmentation software running in the background? Any other disk intensive applications running?

as a point of reference... i can record 5 shows, run comskip on 4 of them, and playing back 2 of the shows being recorded.... and not have a problem at all, but i also have a hardware raid controller with a dedicated recording directory... everything is silky smooth.

System: 3ware hardware raid5 controller (recording array 6 750gb 7200rpm disks in raid 5), 2.66ghz c2quad, 4 gb ram, win2003 32bit

Are you using an HDHomerun? Are you running the HDHR through the same router as you are connecting the HD300? You may have network saturation.

I finally figured it out. It was a network issue. I had what I thought was adequate bandwidth running with the 'WIFI200 USB Wireless b/g/n Adapter for HD Theater', but not so. I connected it with a 100BaseT cable directly to my router and voila - no stuttering, live TV great, recorded shows perfect.

I don't have cabling access to the TV where I want to use this, so I installed another 'N' router in the same room and it works great. It must use a ton of bandwidth, but now it works flawlessly.
