Sound out of synch when watching a recorded show at the same time

I have a

- core2 duo 2.1g.
- 2 hdd 320g sata2
- sage 6
- winxp
- 1 gig of memory
- directx (not overlay)

I am using purevideo and sound decoder.

If I am watching a show while I am recording another one, the recorded show is out of sync (around 1 or 2 seconds)

Is this normal or it may be caused by purevideo decoder?

Thanks

Is it just out of sync, or skipping some of the audio or video? You could try a different decoder if you suspect that. And, are the recording dirs on drives formatted using 64K clusters?

OK, I just find it with partition magic. It is set to 4K. I am modifying it to 64k and we will see.

Thanks

That should help.

And, the easiest way I know of to get the cluster size is to run chkdsk & its summary will list the # "bytes in each allocation unit".

I don't know if it is just for me, but everytime I tru Partion Magic it crash and I lost my drive.

Anyway, I reformat the drive to 64k BS and it seems ok. I also switch to intervideo decoder.

I saw that the cpu drop to almost nothing with block size to 64k.

Thanks

Thanks Andy. Acronis is a lot more reliable. Will not use PM anymore.
