Okay, it just decided to find the server on its own but now I don't know where to start with the mymovies/extender setup...

Do I need to install the full version of SageTV or just the WHS server version?

You just need the WHS add-in for Sage running on the WHS. The HD300 Extender should be functioning and would be used to configure SageTV. If you're installing My Movies please read the wiki linked to in the My Movies thread. You'll need in install My Movies for WHS on the WHS and the My Movie Collection Manager on some other PC on the network to work with your collection. Only after those 2 pieces are in place should you add the Sage My Movie plugin to Sage.

If you are using/wanting to use WHS for Sage, then install the WHS version as an "add-in" to your WHS just like you'd set up any 3rd party add-in.

The WHS server version of MyMovies is just that - for a server, meaning no real UI to interact with. So, in your case you'd install the server version on your WHS, then on another pc install the "Collection Manager" which is essentially the UI for the server software. You do all management from the collection manager which updates the database on the server.

You install the MyMovies plugin from your extender, and it will interact with the database on the WHS as it sees fit.

When I try to connect to the server I just get a blue screen... nothing happens.

Mymovies was installed previously and is up-to-date as far as the collection manager and home server plug-in. The Sage plug-in has been configured on the server side. It gave me the IP address of the server eventually which I clicked on and slowly a blue screen saying sage was starting up appeared and then the extender shut down.

Restarted the extender and now it doesn't see the server... nor does the handheld remote allow me to add numbers/letters (or a USB keyboard for that matter) manually.

The extender firmware was updated first thing obviously...

(and I thought the wheelchair was frustrating LOL... even though I know it's something simple probably)

thanks in advance...

Use the Video Out button on the HD300 remote to cycle thru different resolutions and pause after every press to see if you pick up a picture.

I have used to the video out button to cycle through but I get nothing.

I log onto my Windows home server and I have nothing but a blank screen on the television until I power off the extender and turn it on again.

Okay, I forced HDMI and it connected to the server. Seems a little slow but will play around with it (I know it's not a true client). Would prefer a direct boot into the MyMovies plug-in but I will take that to the other thread.

Tried to download the latest firmware beta but it was taking FOREVER. I will do some network test but everything else on my network is working just fine.

Thanks for your help!
