Question about recording
I'm in the process of designing a home theater system based on sagetv and hauppauge products. I'm unable to find the answer to one question about the capabilities of the newest SageTV HD Theater.
If I add the HD theater to one of my remote tvs (not the one on the server), it's clear that I can VIEW recorded material. But can I use the HD Theater to ask the server to RECORD new content? Thanks! Phavahg, Bona Fide Newbie |

If by "the server" you mean a PC equipped with TV tuner devices and running SageTV Media Center software, then the answer is yes. All SageTV media extenders and software clients provide access to the full SageTV user interface, including all recording, configuration, and administrative functions.
However an HD Theater will not by itself add TV recording capabilities to an ordinary file server or NAS device, if that's what you're asking.

thanks! I meant the first case you described ... Yeh, perhaps "host" would have been a better term.
Anyway, good news! |
