Hauppauge HVR-1950; tuner not up to par!
Comparing the experience with at least seven other tuners (different devices), I have found the tuner that is used in the HVR-1950 is less than idea. While, for the most part it works, it is not anywhere as forgiving with signals that have less than ideal "haystacks" (no multipath or other abnormalities).
I have one 'local' station (physical ch. 33) that it refuses to receive even tough signal strength is more than adequate. I even returned the 1st unit for a 2nd, but the same issue. On the other hand their HVR-1500 preforms fine with no issue. ![]() This is all under the exact same conditions with the identical same 'feed'. The only variable is the 'front end' of the device. BTW, the processor usage of the two (on the same Laptop) is almost identical (only one installed at a time). |
