Cannot get Hauppauge HVR-1950 to work. Video choppy.
Hello Everyone,
I'm running the latest version of Sage (6.6.2). My primary capture is via a Hauppauge HD-PVR (connected to a Dish Network Vip211). That is all working great (for the most part), and has for some time. (By the way, on the HD-PVR, I'm running driver ver 1.0.5.3 from 11/2008, because when I upgrade to the latest {1.5 something or another} I get audio issues.) I recently decided to also add a Hauppauge HVR-1950 to have a second source of my over-the-air local HD channels. My problem is that no matter what I do, the HD-video over this new device has major problems. The best way to describe it is choppy. It tunes in my local OTA channels just fine, and then I get about 1 frame per 10 or so seconds, while the audio just keeps rolling along. - On the HVR-1950 I'm using driver version 3.1.26126.0 from May 2008. (I've also tried the latest version from Aug 2009, not sure of the version number.) - The WinTV application that comes with the device shows the TV stations it is capturing just fine. - The situation is the same regardless of the H.264 decoder I use. I prefer the ArcSoft one that comes with Total Media Theater (latest version), but there is no difference when I use CoreAVC (ver 1.9.5). - Connecting "old-fashion" (i.e. non-HD) sources to the composite input on the 1950 work just fine. - Again, HD captured via my HD-PVR works just fine. Any help here would be greatly apprecaited. Given that I've tried multiple versions of the 1950's driver, that the WinTV app plays the video just fine, and that it is the same with different H.264 decoders, I'm stumpped. This really seems like something that needs to be tweaked with SageTV. The only other tidbit I've got is that my TV's max resolution is 720p, not 1080. With the HD-PVR, this is not an issue, as I've configured my DishNetwork VIP211 receiver that feeds it to 720p. Could it be that the 1950 is kicking out 1080 and that is what Sage is trying to playback and that my TV cannot handle it? Thank you! C.J. |

Fixed it!
Changed the video renderer from EVR (enhanced video renderer) to VMR9 (directX 9), and all is good!
Now if I could just figure out why recordings with my HD-PVR occassionally get screwed up with a "halt" error with Sage! Thanks, C.J. Last edited by cejota3; 01-18-2010 at 01:05 AM. |
