Freeview channels missing

Hi,
I've downloaded the 21 day trial version of sage tv (version 6) as i'm not happy with windows media centre, but I haven't been able to get sage tv to tune into all the channels that media centre can find, most notably all BBC channels inc. news & childrens plus approx. 10 less watched channels. I've tunned into various
sources i.e. Emly More, Belmont, Sheffield but none get me a full channel list.

Help would be appreciated.

Try scanning at different times of the day as some channels are online during the day but not at night and vice versa. Sage will let you do an update scan (ie only add extra channels without removing previously found ones)

Hi brewston,
I have scanned at different times of the day inc. just now, but still no BBC channels which I know are on the air at the moment - I can watch them with Windows Media Centre using the same tuner. ?????

Try looking at this file in the SageTV program folder:-

PredefinedDVBT.frq

it contains details on the channels that Sage will scan for a given location - check they are correct for the transmitter you pick up.

Might help you a bit.

Found the file 'PredefinedDVBT.frq' opened the file but the contents not self explanatory, to me anyway, I thought that if I found a list of the frequencies that these transmitters use for the different channels the file contents may make more sense - but I searched the net and was not able to find any reference for the frequencies used - not sure what to do next.

Try for example sheffield:-

http://www.ukfree.tv/txdetail.php?a=SK324870

Scroll down, looks at the muxes, at the end of each like is a Cxx and a frequency

eg. C53 (730.0MHz)

check that frequency against the file (add on six zeros, eg 73000000)

edit: actually checking the above and looks like the file is wrong for the above, you wouldn't get BBC on Mux 1, according to that website it should be
810000000 and yet the file has 618000000 (Sage v7)

Thanks starfire,

The transmitter I use is Emley Moor
Found the frequencies
Noticed thay'd been rounded up/down .2Mhz
Entered the exact values
New scan
Still no BBC channels

You mention Sage v7, is it out soon? As I'm sure I'll finnish up buying Sage TV soon. Regarding my missing channels, I know it's only a matter of time before they turn up.

Do you know something I don't know, should I wait for v7 rarther than get to know v6.6.

V7 should be out in a few weeks

You can buy V6 now if you wish, you would qualify for a free upgrade to V7 when it comes out as also noted here

The V7 GUI is quite different than V6...

Not sure what you mean by a matter of time before the channels show up, you mean they are not transmitting now?

When I said "I know it's only a matter of time before they turn up." I mean before I can get Sage TV will tune into them.

Anyway, I'm off to try v7.

Just for the record,

Downloaded v7
Did a retune
All channels now available

Now I need to get my head round organising the channel line up.

Is there an easy way to get SageTV to list the channels as Freeview TV does,
eg. Channel 1 - BBC1, Channel 2 - BBC2, Channel 3 - ITV1 etc.

Maybe I should download and read the manual.

Re-map them to a different logical channel number in the channel editor.
