inTV-HVR-1600 & 2250 installation from scratch

So I have a 2250 that has been giving me fits & I haven't gotten it completely working in SageTV as it is. But I have several parts coming for the server including a SSD for boot drive (actually I already have it just sitting) & a WinTV HVR 1600. So a reinstall of the OS (win 7 32 bit) is in the works. What I am wondering about is the best practice/method for installing multiple tuners. As in when I reinstall the OS what order should I install the hardware/software in. This is a new to me sagetv setup all together using mostly used parts. I have 1x hd100 & 2x hd200 that this is service out to & the server will also be pulling a few other tasks that I used to have my WHS doing (file sharing, print server, torrents & a few other tasks).

Hauppauge 2250 Win7 Issue

Best of luck on the install, I know I had to take a bit of time and effort to get my setup to work, but I wanted to let you know what I did and how I got mine working.

I used to have WinXP SP3 on my server (1.9Ghz Dual-Core, 2GB Ram, 250GB HD, Hauppauge 2250) and SageTV worked flawlessly. The issue was that the ClearQAM channels from Time Warner were moved so I had tried to rescan them with partial success. I was able to tune some of the channels but not all of them so I thought it was something with the install, since I was having other issues as well.

So I installed Windows 7 Ultimate 32-bit and SageTV server. I downloaded the latest 2250 drivers I could find. The issue actually got worse, at this point no clearQAM stations were getting tuned by the Hauppage 2250 so I picked up a Monoprice Indoor/Outdoor antenna and tried to tune OTA with that. This was successful, but I could only get a few of the channels at a time, so I picked up a K-World USB tuner to try that. I was still able to only get 2 channels at a time.

The solution for me was to download WinTV 7 CD and install it. I scanned the channels to see if WinTV 7 could tune them, and once they did I started to get very confused. So, I tried to rescan with SageTV and lo and behold it tuned them all perfectly.

I am now tuning them all successfully and without any issue thanks to the drivers that came from that download. I had downloaded the WinTV 7 from the Hauppauge website that required the CD. I hope some of this helps.

I Will definitely keep that in mind. Infact I have changed approaches & have an Indoor Antenna. SageTV would not tune any OTA so I was about to box it up & return it, but by a whim attached it to my TV & it found all the majors except CW. I Just figured it was a no go, except I hooked that antenna up to my tivo HD today & it got everything including CW.

So at this point my plan is to use one card for analog cable & the other for OTA giving me 2 tuners on each. I Will remember what you said about the wintv7 helping. It actually helped a bit when I was screwing with clearqam too so maybe I will install it before sageTV & make sure everything is working before even installing sageTV..

With my HVR-2250 tuner and Sage TV v6.6.2, I found that the first time I tried scanning (using QAM), it didn't find any channels. I found I had to re-start SageTV after adding the HVR-2250 tuner before the scan would pick anything up.

This may have been a fluke. I haven't had to re-scan since then and things have been working well for months, so I hate to touch it.

Anyway, no guarantees, but it's an easy thing to try - if all else fails, try re-starting Sage or even re-booting your PC and then repeat the scan.
