Exclamation DShowCapture.dll 7.0.18 RC2 vs. FloppyDTV C/CI (DVB-C) = ERROR (-2,0x80004005)

Have had a very stable 7.0 installation lately. But my upgrade from 7.0.17 RC1 to 7.0.18 RC2 changed that. Guess I should be happy, finally something to problemsolve again

Long story short. After upgrade to .18 RC2. Following dialog box in SageTV interface when trying to tune:
» There was a Capture Error in playback. Details:
» ERROR (-2,0x80004005): There was a problem
» using a SageTV component. Please re-install
» SageTV application.

Had read the release notes already. A few captured my interest:
Quote:
Windows Updates
1. Enabled support for configuring both the DVB-S and DVB-T inputs on the HVR-4000 on Windows. Previously only one format or the other could be used.
6. Fixed support for Hauppauge HVR-930C
7. Fixes for DVBLogic support
After getting hold of the DShowCapture.dll for .17 RC1 and switching between that and the one for .18 RC2. Sure enough. Ok / Fail / Ok / Fail. So .18 RC2 do not like my FloppyDTV. Before I ask SageTV to make them friends again. Anybody else get this problem, in any form ? Just wondering if it's related to FireDTV/FloppyDTV, DVB-C or DVB in general.

BTW: Look signature below for info about my setup.

Hi,

Same problem here, I am running Windows 7 64 bit and lots of tuners including a FireDTV-S2 which I expect is the same problem tuner giving me the same error:-

error (-2,0x80004005)

Have you logged a support request? For info I just logged a support request, will let you know how it goes.

Thanks,

David

Nope. Not yet. Was just wondering if I was alone in this. But after two fast replies. I guess it is a general problem. Thanks for keeping us updated. If needed I'll do a support request myself. You could also point them to my debug logging below, might contain something useful.

Have now also done a debug logging just to try to isolate where the error happens. Here is a trimmed edition of part of log with .18 RC2 DLL (fail):

Hi,

In my support request I also included a link to this forum post so hopefully the SageTV guys should see it.

I have downgraded back to 7.1.7 so hopefully your log will be enough?

Ta,

David

the Wrong TV Type (Cable) problem was fixed.

Here is an update for the problem the wrong TV Type (Cable) was used
http://download.sage.tv/users/qian/7...howCapture.dll
File version: 3.0.0.34

Note: If you have ATSC (Digital OTA) tuners, do not use this file; wait for the next update.

Just to let you know, this updated dll breaks ATSC playback for me (on my Avermedia M780). So you really should use it only, if you had problems before (I didn't). Otherwise I'd recommend to stay away from it ...

Yes, FloppyDTV (DVB-C) is fixed, but my DVB-T tuners (PCI and USB) are still broken! 7.0.17 rc1 is fine, with both kind of tuners.

Hi,

I also reverted back to 7.0.17 as my FireDTV-S2 works at fist with the new .dll however it stops respondings after a few channel changes.

Hopefully this will be fixed in the next beta.

the new updated for the problem.

I just updated the patch
http://download.sage.tv/users/qian/7...howCapture.dll (file version 3.0.36).
Please help by testing the new DLL. We want to solve all tuner related problems before the next beta.

Tested newest DShowCapture.dll v7.0.19.1 / 3.0.36, just to be sure. My FloppyDTV C/CI (DVB-C) still works fine.

http://download.sage.tv/users/qian/7...howCapture.dll (file version 3.0.36).
Please help by testing the new DLL. We want to solve all tuner related problems before the next beta.
Tested on the XP server: DVB-C (FloppyDTV) and DVB-T (USB) are both working now! I'll check the Win7_64 server later, 'cause it's recording Spooks right now.

BTW any change SageTV will support the fairly new Terratec H7, an external hybrid DVB-C/T tuner (USB) with CAM?

I did not re-register. Only stopped SageTV service, backup'ed existing, copied new. Started SageTV service again. Per Opus4 updated post, this is only thing needed.
