channel scanning with FloppyDTV DVB-S (6.2.10)

Yesterday downloaded and installed SageTV on Windows (MCE) PC. It recognised my 2 FireDTV DVB-S tuners but I could not scan for channels at this time. Later I started the scanning but about 15~20 sec along SageTV closes without comments. Every time I try I have the same problem. I am using it without registration for 15-day evaluation.

Does anyone have a suggestion what can be the problem?

If yo have it running on MCE make sure you disable all the MCE services that could be using your tuners. Only 1 application at a time can access the tuners.

I just recently upgraded as well. I am having the same exact problems. I am from the US but currently live in Germany, so I bought an Avermedia DVB-S card to get the free Sat channels over here. Has worked great with the MyTheatre program and the Sage network encoder, but I just reformatted my hard drive and decided to try and setup the card through Sage.

Everytime I try and scan for channels the program unexpectedly closes with no error messages. I also tried another satellite, which scanned for quite a long time and found around 400 channels, but then also unexpectedly closed. After that, Sage would not open any longer, so I am in the stages of removing everything and putting it back on.

Here is the system information:
Windows XP Professional SP2 with all updates
Geforce 6600 to SDTV output
Avermedia DVB-S Pro (bought in Germany, says A700 on board) BDA Driver board
Hauppauge PVR150 with IR Remote
Newest Sage Release 6.2
Always had a problem scanning the Astra 19.2 Sat after 2 channels, but the Astra 28 Sat went to around 300 channels found before crashing.

Anyone have any ideas what might be causing this to crash, or where I can find error log information?

thanks
Josh

There is a known issue regarind channel scanning. It's related to satellites with DVB-S2 channels I believe. If you tried to remove the frequencies with DVB-S2 channels the scans would probably go better. Nevertheless, you should contact support to get assistance.

Usually the very first time you do the scan it should go well though, so trying removing all references to the card from sage.properties and trying again after a reboot captures most channels.

Instead of editing the properties file, I uninstalled SageTV, deleted the directory, installed again. Tried to scan for channels during the wizzerd but again shortly after starting scanning Astra 19.2 (start of second transponder) the program closed without any comment.

Tomorrow I will find the Astra 19.2 transponder list and try to edit.

I never (knowingly) use any MCE service. Does Windows automatically start these? (how to find?)

Problem Fixed

There was a problem in the DShowCapture.dll and the fact that in some fequencies of the astra satelite at 19.2 contain more than 50 channels.

I think one should ask SageTV for the new dll. Or mail to me then I can send it to you.

Greeting Rudi

I'm having the same problem with Hauppauge WinTV NOVA HD S2 card. SageTV Service on WHS aborts during scan for Astra Channels - the error log says:
#
# An unexpected error has been detected by Java Runtime Environment:
#
# EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION (0xc0000005) at pc=0x144055f9, pid=3884, tid=5828
#
# Java VM: Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (1.6.0-b105 mixed mode)
# Problematic frame:
# C [DShowCapture.dll+0x155f9]
#

rkoppelman: Are you saying that a fix actually exists?
